Comingsoon.net just posted the news that Zimmer is scoring Ron Howard's The DaVinci Code.

Can't wait to hear Hannibal 2 ! But, honestly, I hope it's good.

Think it's been official since the first teaser trailer came out.

Yeah and let us not forget that Hans wrote music for the full trailer.

Which one did Zimmer write for? Both have some existing music from Brian Tyler's CONSTANTINE score mixed in.

The full trailer until the very end when the little snippet from Constantine was in there. Then in the teaser it's by James Dooley with music from End of Days by John Debney.

Just so you guys know, I was being sarcastic with this whole thing; it was more of a joke at Comingsoon.net's inability to follow up. I did recognize the music from Constantine (I'd like to have heard Tyler's full orchestral score before Warner semi-rejected it and brought in the reject) and End of Days but when were the Dooley cues?

The teaser also had music from Brian's CONSTANTINE. And nut score, if you want to hear Brian's CONSTANTINE as it was, all of the clips on his site are taken from Brian's original score, not the actual film score.

Just checked, and you can also hear Jim Dooley's music for the DA VINCI CODE trailer here:

Wonder why he isn't using Horner, his usual composer?

Perhaps after The Missing there was a fallout of sorts? He didn't use Horner for Cinderella Man; that was all Thomas Newman.

I wouldn't peg Howard has having a "usual" composer, even though Horner is a good candidate. With the Zimmer attachment, it looks like Howard may be cycling through composers who've all been a part of his past (Zimmer on Backdraft).

If this is a case, there is hope for Lee Holdridge to score a big motion picture on the horizon. Holdridge scored a little something on TV called "East of Eden" about 25 years ago, and guess who's been announced to direct a bigpic of the Steinbeck story?

I thought I read somewhere that Horner was busy during Cinderella Man. Now it does look like Howard is, as PeterK says, recycling back.

Hey PeterK, if he is recycling back AND doing East Of Eden, Holdridge would fit, not just because he wrote the TV score, but because Holdridge gave Howard a delightful score in his second movie as a director: Splash. I've always wondered why he didn't use Holdridge again.
