    Hello peeps,

As you probably know by now, NBC aired an exclusive 4-minute clip from King Kong a few nights ago, complete with what sounds like an excerpt from James Newton Howard's score. You can download the whole caboodle in AVI format here.

First thoughts: the ape looks a hell of a lot better than I expected and interacts well with Naomi Watt's character. Sadly the CGI environment is, for want of a better word, crap.

As for the music: it doesn't sound half bad, actually. Could that be a main theme coming through there?

Have a look/listen and post your thoughts.

I kinda liked Jessica Lange... in the Old Kong (even now as I am 28, I wished she was one of my mothers) Wouldn't that flash all the jealous ..

Maybe I should call my psych again and tell hem that Peter Jackson's new flic is turning up old memories...

Anyway.. Looks good, looks familiar. If out on DVD this one is gonna stretch the limits of my Subwoofer. Imagine all the THUMP THUMP THUMP, SNORE, SNIFF from the beast.

Not too impressed about the score from what I hear... Pretty standard JNH stringwork.. but I have yet to hear the album and see the movie.

P.S. What is the male version of a Geisha? I mean.. are there male Geishas? and if so what do we call them?

Since you ask: it's taikomochi. Not to be confused with a tamagochi. But I digress...

I saw an extended film clip on TV the other night with a lot more Kong/Rex footage than I would have expected for an early clip.

Could go thru a long analysis, but suffice it to say that I would not have structered that scene in that way... way too over the top. In so many cases with so many things, 'less can be more', even with Kong.

I just got back from a screening of Kong.

Film was excellent, the music was very good, and fit well.

Also, there is a surprise during the Opera House scene just before Kong is unveiled.
