How about Hooper? You ever seen a car fly? That would almost be as cool as F-I-S-T.

You know, I always liked Bill Conti's score to Rookie of the Year. Remember that one? Those themes are still stuck in my head, and I haven't seen that film for who knows how long. Better chance of seeing Ghostbusters in a Varese batch than that, though.

Is it possible we could determine more likely releases- probably not... I would never have predicted F.I.S.T. would get a release, and if all of us had to pick them, they would release Alien, Ghostbusters, and back to the Future- even Gremlins, Runaway, or InnerSpace, just for us.So maybe we should just wait, maybe use that energy for arguing which is more powerful: Jeannie or Samantha?

Would be nice if we finally get an expanded score for Back To The Future. All though I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I'd even settle for a re-recorded complete BTTF.I'd like Trevor Rabin's Remember the Titans.

Totally with you, Kevin. Jeannie was more powerful. My opinion- it was simply because she was much more Grrr than Samantha. But I digress...

Ugh for the love of god....a re-recording? We have something similar to that, that John Debney did for the BTTF Trilogy CD and he got the tempo for all Parts I and II music completely wrong.
NO re-recordings please.
Edit: The only thing that sounded half decent on that CD was the BTTF "Ride" cue. The Part III stuff was just taken directly from the OST.

As much as I want to see BTTF on CD, I really just don't think it's going to happen for a long time, if ever...Bob Gale (Writer/Producer of all three films) has said that it's just too expensive due to the size of the orchestra used which equates to astronomical re-use fees. Plus, Universal owns the rights and they're sitting on a mountain of scores in the same position, so it just doesn't seem likely.

Plus, the song album has generated a very large chunk of change for them throughout the years, so there is no benefit for them to release a score only album where the songs aren't present. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a similar situation for Ghostbusters, whose song album just got a re-pressing.
It's a shame the re-recording turned out the way it did. They started to get the hang of it by the end of Part I, but the acoustics just didn't match the very direct sound all of the original recordings had. Plus, they neglected one of the best cues in the original score ("The Libyans!") and heavily re-interpreted the portion of the '85 Lone Pine Mall scene where Doc appears to be killed and Marty escapes.
I'm really not holding my breath for anything...but I'm sure they'll put some good stuff out as usual!

the fact that the re-use fees are so high and what not should make a re-recording all the more possible. If they aren't going to release the real thing, then I'd at least want more than what was on the OST and the Debney/RSNO cd.

Yeah, Top Secret was a given, just for that love theme.None of the others interested me, so I finally dropped the cash to get Home Alone 2, which I didn't see myself doing two years ago. I had a few tracks on CD-R which I've played a lot the past two holiday seasons, but I've misplaced it, so I decided to go ahead and get the set.

Not ordering any. I'm fine with my Top Secret LP, which has the funny Val Kilmer songs included. Can't believe they're not on the cd.

Just a guess but it may have been an issue of who holds the rights to the songs that kept them off the CD.I ordered Top Secret and The Scalphunters.

I didn't order any. Though I might pick up the Conti title if it doesn't sell out fast...I've never heard that score by him but I'm a fan of his work.

I dunno, I listened to the sound clips of a few and the only one that really took me was the Victor Young one.
And I don't have to worry about that selling out any time soon...

OMG! It sold out? That is like totally unfair! I didn't even want one and it sold off? Like that totally frustrates me. I'm just going to wait for regular Varese Sarabande releases. Like, those are totally cooler! They don't sell out! Sheesh.

That is sick.I am getting used to this stuff, but after seeing buysoundtrax list TOP SECRET on ebay with an opening bid of $30 (100% markup) already, there's where the first finger of blame can be pointed, if you may be looking for it. Who knows how many buysoundtrax bought? The only thing we're certain of is that they are not selling any for the typical $5 markup on their site like SAE and MM are. So much for their claim that they are committed to the collector, when in fact they are clearly infuriating them.
Perhaps this is enough evidence for labels like Varese and others releasing limited editions to suggest rules be set up for buying limited editions. For me, I always dreamed of selling soundtracks because I thought it would be a great way to enjoy this hobby. Now we have a few clowns destroying it for everyone. Of course, they can and will chime in with "hey, it's all about market forces," but whatever. Good excuses for exploiting those you need for survival is not exactly the best business model, not to mention the growing contempt throughout the collector's circle.
How sad and disrespectful all of this has become. It's too bad, I guess. I wonder how long this will go on.

We can also leave the current "Composed and Conducted" strip right in place for a looooong time, substituting the name of the factory two or three times a year!
