There are several scores in these early 60s low budget horror films from Allied Artists and other studios, which feature great music by Lazlo and Fred Katz. Among them Wasp Woman and the Beast from Haunted Cave. Although these movies are particularly bad and funny, the music is quite good in some of these. Especially good is the score by them for that latter film above. The crooks and the good guys are skiing cross country after robbing a bank and they run into a monster in a cave that sucks their brains out. The music is very suspenseful. Far too good for this slop. LOL>J>

Lazlo and Fred Katz? Were they brothers?Ah, I see. Unfortunately, I missed out on a good few of those classic comedies. I see Alexander Lazslo was (un)credited for THE HIDEOUS SUN DEMON. I can't remember the score, but the film itself is full of howlers, not least the line "I'm afraid your husband has changed into something...scaley."
Yeah, Fred Katz. I didn't see the ones you mention, John, but he did some effective small combo work on Corman's LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and A BUCKET OF BLOOD. He also appears on screen in BUCKET, which, if I may add, is an absolutely must-see gem of a movie. So witty, it's a hoot from start to finish (and was meant to be, unlike, for example, HIDEOUS SUN DEMON).

THE HIDEOUS SUN DEMON was a library score taken from the Capitol Q Series, I believe. I have great transfers from the original tapes, and it's a really enjoyable listen. Unfortunately, the legalities of releasing something like this would take a nightmare. I believe at present there might be about 7,348 different parties claiming to own music from this library. And my guess is that 7,347 of them are wrong. They trouble is, WHICH 7,347?

Yes, many films were scored from that library and also many great TV series and other B films. I saw a really hokey film on TV one day with teens from early sixties. A really terrible movie with some of those great recognizable cues in there I heard so often in the old TV series long agoie, Ruff and Ready, Soldiers of Fortune and things like U.S. Marshall with John Bromfield, etc.
