I have discovered that John Powell is in my mind one of the best composers today. However all I have in my collection from John Powell is Italian Job and Bourne Supremacy. What am I missing. I have on my list to pick upChicken Run
Mr and Mrs Smith
Shreck 1-2
Paycheck
Evolution
Antz
What else??????? Thanksposted 10-12-2005 02:42 PM PT (US)

Chicken Run is outstanding. Pretty much the only good thing I've heard by him though.NP: The Lord of the Rings (Leonard Rosenman)

What else??????? ThanksIf you have The Bourne Supremacy I recommend that you check out his score to the first film; why not quite as good and a little less dark, it is still a solid effort and a must for Powell fans. I've found that Robots grew on me throughout the summer and it is near Chicken Run as his best release, IMO. Check out Face/Off to understand what he put into the score; the album isn't well produced, but its effect in the film is remarkable for a first-time composer. I haven't gotten a hold of the Mr. and Mrs. Smith score but I've heard its a good cross between Paycheck and the Bourne scores.

Hes pretty good, but the theme in Shrek for the scene at the end sounds just like the music in Deep Blue Sea, from shortly before.

As far as action scores go, FACE/OFF is one of my favorites.

For John Powell, PAYCHECK should be at the very top of your list. Superlative score.

Hands down Powell's most entertaining score is THE ADVENTURES OF PLUTO NASH. Insanely catchy theme.Ryan

Alright, I gotta ask... did you actually see that movie? Is that where the $8 it made came from?

Perhaps a little-mentioned score worth giving a chance is Endurance.Just Visiting is fun, and has a few highly infectious themes.
(How do you come by Pluto Nash??)
