if its anytihng like his score for GalaxyQuest I'm excited for this. I haven't heard much else from Mr. Newman aside from bits and pieces on compilations

Brian,You heard the sound clips? They are up at the UK Serenity site.
I sure hope that it gets a good, long CD release.
Additionally, the fans of Firefly/Serenity (the Browncoats) are tyring to get a score CD released of the series' music. Apparently they've been emailing LaLaLand, and they seem to like the idea.

"They" being "Lalaland", right?"Galaxy Quest" would be the wrong comparison, but I hope it's as good as without being similar....

I would love some information on this as well- I've seen Firefly on DVD and I look forward to seeing the film. A friend in LA went to a test screening and said that thought it was pretty good. The score will probably get released- but there's been no info, and I would like to think we'd see something about it by now.

Well remember Kev that that new series of rules is in place...so maybe they will apply to "Serenity."I was just reminded of the rules by a friend so I'm guessing it should apply.

Bri-Yeah, I remembered the thing about the new rules. I was trying a vain attempt to be sarcastic.

I certainly hope it's longer.

Hey Bri-I just got back from a screening of the film, and the music is great. I hope a lot of it gets on the CD.

There was a promo screening last night in Detroit, and a bunch of us made the trip across the state. Universal provided the passes.I won't tell you anything, except it's about time there was an intelligent sci-fi movie out. It's fantastic.

As the King of Atlantis said before its destruction*: "Can't freaking wait!"* I didn't actually do any fact checking on this quote but I can't honestly wait til this film unleashes itself amongst my local theater; as well as Newman's score, whose clips have been heard many a time on my laptop (with those Bose headphones, baby!).

I wouldn't say the clips sound so much eclectic as much as they sound like Newman's way of saying: "Thank God!"What's this in Trading Station Part 2? Is that dissonance? Ahh, how refreshing!

But we need tracklistings so we know how long it is!!In fact, I dropped an email to Varese the other day about the title, and gave a subtle hint that the music worked so well, in the film, I was looking forward to "a CD stuffed to the data limit" with David Newman's music.

Cool.Oh, and Al: I had clicked on that earlier, but all it did was give me another view of the front cover. Guess they fixed it now.

But, a word of warning -- don't read the tracklistings if you don't want to be "spoiled" in any way about the film.

I understand Lancelot, I wasn't really mocking but more have a fun time making a smart-ass comment. I am a huge fan of Joss and am eagerly awaiting "Serenity". So, sorry if you might have taken offense to my earlier comments; I honestly meant no harm.

Quite all right. I'm going through too much media depravation to scroll over a no-warning-given spoilerish track titles--like the ones above (not yours)--accidentally....I can't help but take it seriously, unfortunately...(since most folks know I don't have much a sense of humor, anyway.)It's just too good a series, and whether it was done absent-mindedly or in some attempt to get a rise out of people--either way, it was poor judgement. Flashes of "Qui-Gon's Noble End" all over again, y'know?

Hey guys, apparently you can download a short cd of Firefly tracks over at Fox.I can't afford it right now, even though it's 9.99.
And Brian - I get to see it again at another preview next Tuesday. If you can make it over here by then, you can use one of the free passes I have.

You have to pay 9.99, then you can download it. Some people have been having problems if they don't use IE, while others can't figure out how to burn it to CD. Apparently you have to convert to regular MP3's first.
