This applies to moments in the films themselves and/or their album.

    On Film:
Revenge of the Sith - During Anakin and Obi-Wan's duel, they run towards each other and their lightsabers collide just as a huge plume of lava explodes in the background. Williams used the Battle of the Heroes motif and has it build up and climax just as their sabers hit and the lava explodes. Loved it!

    On Album:
War of the Worlds - Williams gets credit here too...During the "Ferry Scene" when there is the statement of the Alien theme around 3:50 there is a very intense horn figure with a low brass rip at the end that really heightens the tension. I liked that theme as well.

    Looking forward to your responses!

The best Music Moment from this summer that I can think of, right off the top of my head, would be the Tumbler chase from Batman Begins. Another great Moment that comes to mind is when Batman takes flight in the Narrows and the music just seems to soar with him.

    ON FILM:

Revenge of the Sith: When "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan" starts up after Anakin says, "You will try!" The music jumps more than a few notches (db's) in volume and it's one of the best action cues of the summer, and from John Williams; this is why he is the master!

    ON ALBUM:

Batman Begins: Track 10, which I'll name "Gotham Heights and The Batmobile" (HAHA!), is awesome!!! And I certainly love hearing the musical stylings of HZ and JNH move together in this cue. It's wicked driving music.

Much as I loved practically ALL of ROTS, the first moment that came to mid when I saw this thread was Bruce Wayne standing up in the bat cave.

Too many pieces in RoTS to mention:

In addition to all of those mentioned above, the heart-wrenching music playing over the Jedi slaughter gets me every time!

Training on the Ice from Batman Begins (and the Tumbler chase) are a distant second.

Same here, do you mean when all the bats fly at him and there's the loud percussion?

I should add there were a few moments in The Island that were really great too. Like when you see a child birth and a murder and the music is very restrained. Very emotional.

Me too. Definetely a goose bump scene for me. Is the music from that scene on the CD?

    Followed by:
    - Anakin's Dark Deeds in ROTS
    - Most scenes from Sin City. The music just fit perfect to that movie
    - The scene where the kids fly out of the window in Finding Neverland
    - The scene where Orlando Bloom arrives and works in his castle/grounds in Kingdom of Heaven

    In Film and on Album:

War of the Worlds, as the aliens dissapear out of Tim Robbin´s cellar, and the violins end the cue with this shreeking sound...

    Great

War of the Worlds: The stereo timpani writing in The Intersection Scene and The Ferry Scene. Somewhat lost in the film, unfortunately.

NP: Revenge of the Sith (John Williams)

I think that was easily the worst part of his score, not in composition but how it was used. Williams seemed to go against the obvious approach throughout, acting subtly, sort of blending in with the atmosphere (there were moments when I didn't know if some of the sounds were effects or score), but then he uses this obvious Carl Stalling-like string figure that pretty much says: the tentacle is going up, so the strings should go up! Might as well have been a slide whistle.

I believe that the cue you are referring to in "Batman Begins" exists in track 5, "Barbastella"; which is quite a stirring portion of music.

For me, the best moment in film and music has to the intersection scene from "War of the Worlds". It was very well done in the fact that I was quite terrified and mystified at the same time, a bit like the bystanders of the film. I hate it when anyone says to me, "Why would those people just stand around and watch something like that?!" Why? Because that's what we do; we are curious and stupid. Williams' score only helps me visualize that scene in the comfort of my home (or car as it may be). His arrangement and use of deep brass really propel that thing to something of atonal bliss; true nightmare music if you ask me. Also, I haven't seen "The Island", but "My Name is Lincoln" is quite a track and I don't know what visuals accompany it; if I did, I might include it.

    On film-

When Batman gives his "define" response on the rooftop in the Narrows to Rachel Dawes, and leaps off flying (essentially "Antrozous" from the CD). I got chills (good ones) from that scene. One of the most awesome scenes I have ever seen on film.

    On CD

-Most of BATMAN BEGINS kicked major ass, but I also enjoyed Thomas Newman's "Big Right" from CINDERELLA MAN. Very dramatic and powerful track.

I have to say it's been a batman summer for me, both my favorit movie, and score this summer. At first I was a little scepticle of this movie, but when I finally seen it, batman knocked my socks off.(great score)

I'd say the basement alien sequence that played without music was a highlight. When the music finally enters in it was reminiscent of Williams' approach in Jaws.
