Well, I'm not so new. I have browsed this site for maybe three years now to get my latest score news and really enjoy reading the posts that you guys put up here and I thought I might join into the mix. I just thought I would fill you guys in on some of my favorite scores and composers:I am a great fan of Beltrami and consider either "Mimic" or "Hellboy" to be his best score so far. Much like many of you, I am accepting of Brian Tyler's fantastic contributions to the film score crowd by I really do wish he would grab a-hold of a movie that really has grit and balls and not the lame, lame films he seems to always find himself on; I greatly enjoy his work on "Constantine" and (of course) "Children of Dune". I greatly fear the day when we will have no more John Williams' scores almost as much as the day came in which we lost JG. I thought that "War of the Worlds" was an utterly amazing and breathtaking score but I felt that "Revenge of the Sith" lacked in spots - mainly due to the poor mix and editing by Shawn Murphy. Zimmer is who got me involved in the first place with movie scores. His scores for "Gladiator" and "M:I-2" got me really interested in the music. After all of this, I still remain a loyal, loyal fan and buy every one of his new CDs; of which "Batman Begins" I was not disappointed. Zimmer's and Howard's score captured the heroism and tragedy of the character, whereas Elfman's is more inclined to highlight the glorious art direction and sinister-ness of Burton's movies. Overall, it's the best score of the summer. I recently purchased Badalamenti's "Dark Water" score and I am really fond of it. I will be getting more of Angelo's stuff shortly - "Dark Water" is my first Badalamenti score. I also recently received Carlo Silliotto score for "The Punisher" and it too is really quite good and feels very "old-fasioned", which is great.
Well, that's all I can think of for now, but if you have any questions or comments, feel free to reply.

Hello and welcome aboard! Did you ever listen to MARCO BELTRAMI’s I AM DINA? His best score to date, in my opinion.

NP:Charlie and the heroine factoryYeah ummm.... I personally love Injection from M:I-2. Granted there is crap tracks on there, but the Lisa Gerrard and the choir stuff is fantastic.
Anyway, welcome to the boards!

Thanks for all of your replys so far guys, you're making me feel quite welcomed; as opposed to all of those trolls over on the IMDb boards, yuck. It's funny you mentioned about "M:I-2". I've got a story behind it all:After my best friend and I had seen "Gladiator" we immediately went to our local Wal-Mart and grabbed ourselves copies of the soundtrack and we were instantly amazed (granted, we had never heard a score outside the limits of it's film, so give he and I some slack here. Although I did buy "The Phantom Menace" score in '99 simply due to the fact that it was Star Wars; it didn't do it for me then, or now). We became enthralled in the synths of HZ, so to speak. I am quite a fan of the first "Mission: Impossible" - more due to the fact that De Palma directed - and was anxiously awaiting its sequel. When I saw a poster with credits a the bottom I instantly looked for the composer and I saw that HZ was listed. I really freaked out; it was going to be awesome! After the movie came out I bought that really crappy "Music Inspired by" crap CD that featured that crap Limp Bizkit song and was only given one HZ song - and it was "Nyah"! I gave up hope after that becuase I wasn't aware that some films got two seperate CD releases. That Christmas, when I was browsing through the soundtracks to add to my list, I spotted "M:I-2" and freaked. I had to buy it, but this is when I still young and had my mommy take me places and all of that jazz; long story short, she bought it for me but said I had to wait 'til X-mas to open it up. Bummer. When Christmas came around I anxiously awaited old HZ's score and it was the first thing I opened. I had my portable CD player (which I still have and use quite frequently) ready. I popped it in and without knowing skipped to track two; I wish I could've seen the look on my face because I'm sure it was horrifying. What was it that I was listening to? If you have the disk, pop it in and play track two. Anyways, I got around to listening to the whole thing and made my conclusion: it was good (at the time, people!) but it was no "Gladiator". I really enjoyed "Injection" and "Bare Island" (the first minute of that actually, where it is actual music and not nails against a chalkboard) but everything else was kinda bland. Of course now I have smartened up and I know what is good HZ as opposed to bad HZ ("The Ring 1/2" and "Pearl Harbor", respectively). I still listen to old Hans and anticipate his new releases (nothing had me more antipating than that damn "The Ring 1/2" and I have since made my version that leaves out those last four "tunes" and I also rearranged a few tracks). I guess my favorite of his has to be "The Last Samurai" or "The Thin Red Line" with close seconds to "The Rock". I enjoyed "King Arthur" but it doesn't get as much playback as say, "Batman Begins" does. But know I have become more of a Goldsmith/Beltrami fan with a kick of Poledouris (you need a job, Basil) and a side of Tyler for some new spice.

Always nice to hear these greetings. I think I will stay for a while longer. Also, AI: I know that it's bad not to pet the zimmeritos; but what about feeding them? What do wild creatures like they feed on?
