I think I've counted maybe one person on these boards who bought the new Elmer CD.

Anyone else? Is there little interest in a great comedy score among the salivating Media Venturetites roaming the board?

I've never heard the score or seen the entire movie. Maybe someday I'll see it and probably like the score. I did like Ghostbusters.

Peter, count one more, my wife got me this for my birthday. I absolutely love this score; I certainly hope this is the template for a release of the Ghostbusters score as well as a re-issue of Spies Like Us.

That would be wonderful... I think Columbia is planning to reissue Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II on DVD so that would be good timing for a Ghostbusters score release of some kind.

It's a great, fun score from the swaggering military theme to the slouching theme for Bill Murray's character.

    Highly recommended for non-Media Venturites.

(Again, with the continued propagation of the false claim that assumes because one enjoys the music created by Hans Zimmer and company that one cannot enjoy or appreciate a non-synthesized score. Folks..I thought you were smarter than that....Bad form, Peter, even for humor's sake.)

I am having fun. Whomever thinks this is serious should be going after the word "funners" before anything else. Maybe then we can have a serious talk about being wound up.

I've been busy listening to it. I rank it right up, there with 1941 as far as fun military marches go.

I need to get the DVD, haven't seen the film in years.

Wait for the new extended edition with added scenes.

That would be funner than the old version.

Mark, the extended edition is out on DVD. Has been for a month or two now.

Thankfully the original cut of the film is on that special edition dvd. I'm a HUGE fan of the movie, but didn't care much for the deleted/extended sequences. One can see why they were cut out of the film originally. The only scene I wish they would have kept in is the one where Murray convinces Ramis to go down to the Army's office and sign up.

As for Elmer's score -- it's been a holy grail for years and finally I have an official copy. Now only if we can get an official Ghostbusters and Three Amigos. . .

Good to hear the new DVD is out -- and that it has both versions. Too often I have found that there was usually a very good reason why scenes of most movies get deleted. I think I got spoiled with the Lord of the Rings movies which required the additional scenes for those of us who wanted more of the story.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new DVD, as soon as I can find it.

I'm so happy this got released. I've been waiting for a while to hear this score in stereo.

I love Winger's theme, it's a dry run for what would eventually become the Ghostbusters theme... which in my opinion is perhaps the best evocation of New York I've ever heard.

Unfortunately the European DVD only has the extended edition.
