    This just in at Varese:

    THE GREAT RAID
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

    Music Composed by Trevor Rabin

    Benjamin Bratt
    James Franco
    Joseph Fiennes
    Connie Nielsen

Set in the Philippines in 1945, The Great Raid tells the true story of the 6th Ranger Battalion, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Henry Mucci (Benjamin Bratt), which undertakes a daring rescue mission against all odds. Traveling 30 miles behind enemy lines, the 6th Ranger Battalion aims to liberate over 500 American prisoners-of-war from the notorious Cabanatuan Japanese POW camp in the most audacious rescue ever.

Directed by John Dahl (Rounders, Joy Ride), the film also stars James Franco (Spider-Man), Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare In Love) and Connie Nielsen (Gladiator).

The epic score for choir and orchestra, composed by Trevor Rabin is majestic and inspiring. Rabin’s music soars and thrills!

Miramax opens The Great Raid on August 12.

    Catalog #: 302 066 673 2
    Release Date: 8/16/05

    James

(who never found Rabin's work to be "majestic or inspiring")

Rabins orchestral and choir work he did with the last track in Deep Blue Sea "Aftermath" was majestc and inspiring. =)

An uninspired attempt to sound majestic, perhaps.

I have a feeling that this one could give Rabin a chance to show other side of his music. At least, let's hope for it. Something more orchestral and less cheesy than most of his score. He may surprise us. But as always, this will depend of how the film look like. Anyway, we'll see.

I agree, I enjoy most of his popcorn scores. But I really would like to hear what he can do with an orchestra. Although I doubt he'll ever top Armageddon.

Np>Ghost Ship (this score has some odd vocal parts that are strangely emotional...)

Anyone have seen the trailer? I'm wondering if the music that play in the very beginning is from the score. Sound like Rabin by moments, but not sure.

I was watching Coach Carter last night and noticed that the score he'd composed the movie was pretty good. Nothing overbearing, just appropriate for the movie with lots of good thematic material and exciting underscores. IMO, it's as good as Remember the Titan.

I hope he'll do a good job for RAID.

I have the same feeling too....let´s hope we are right. Anyway, he´s had a lot of time to work on the project, so I´m looking forward for something really good. As for the orchestra, I think Rabin has shown he is good at it, but I agree with you, I hope this time the orchestral part of the score is bigger. But be sure we´ll hear a guitar solo somewhere
