The first 5 tracks are all songs. I think they are performed by Danny doing the Oompa Loompas.

Right. I think by my response anyone could guess I'm referring to the classic Oompa songs from the book. If you read the link posted you would know this as well. Track one is a brand new song that isn't exactly a classic Oompa song... yet.

Just as nerve wrecking as the opening song in Lemony Snickett?

I kinda euhm hate 4 out of 5 songs...
But the score has delightful moments.

And the wonka’s welcome song is way worse than the opening lemony snickett's song!

We're all listening out of context. The Wonka song is supposed to be cheesy. When you see the film you'll understand why.

FYI, Demetris, the SoundtrackNet tracklist about is missing the "End Credit Suite" that runs 7'01.

The songs are ALL terrific...was Elfman supposed to reproduce the songs from the original? They're conceptually brilliant and hilarious, I think. And the score is one of the best things Elfman's done in years--check out "River Journey Part 2"--that sliding string counterpoint sounds like something Goldsmith would have done in his prime.

I cant understand why there aren't threads singing praises for this score. I think it's great.

This is vintage Elfman. The songs, the music, the overall 'magic'. It's Elfman in top form. The songs take some getting used to, but they're inspired and perfectly suited for this type of fairytale. I especially like 'Augustus Gloop'. The score is never dull and manages to be weird and playful without being too cheesy. The quality of the music is great. Special mention goes to the wonderful piano 'Finale'.

I'm really glad Tim Burton keeps creating films that are just what Elfman loves - and judging from past form and the trailers I think we're in for another great score with Corpse Bride.

Anyone else notice a thematic similarity to the song "Cheer Up Charlie" from "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"? It is in the scene after he goes to bed after they open his birthday candy bar. Seems like that motive transforms into Charlie's theme.

    This is a great score.

I loved this score so much I could barely write a coherent review...

The fact that people aren't talking about it doesn't surprise me. Everyone is holding their breath waiting for the orgasmic, to end-all-life score for THE ISLAND...

I really enjoyed this one. Will be picking it up soon for sure!

The frenetic style that Elfman is known for was really working with this movie. I don't think the songs could have caught me more off guard, but they're right out of the book so...
