Just read that John Scott will score BASIC INSTINCT 2. This is interesting news. I didn't expect him to get such a high profile assignment. I fully agree with the "Music From The Movies" statement that he is one of the most underrated composers. He's one of the few composers from whom I have almost every CD in my collection. I'm wondering what he will do on this one. It's not really his genre. I hope he comes up with some completely new themes. The film is playing in London after all.

Thats pretty interesting news. I was wondering what he was upto. Last I heard he still doing those adventure music concerts as well as the Jules Verne tour thing.I'm imagineing the score to sound like a cross between A Study in Terror without the banjo and Rudy.

Whenever I talk about John Scott here, people don't seem to care... I think this is wonderful news. I would love to see his name attached to a big studio picture again.

Hey, I support what both of you are saying. Scott is a great composer and
"criminally" underused. Everyone should hear his scores.NP Shogun Mayeda..great main theme and lovely love theme

Maybe the notion of a good composer being wasted on Basic Instinct 2 is what's keeping people away from this thread.

Let's be objective. This thread is getting more attention than any thread about John Williams' War of the Worlds! Funny that.And no, there should be no Basic Instinct 2, unless it's straight to video and I don't hear about it until Basic Instinct 3, 4 and 5 have already been made.

I think it's way too late for a Basic Instinct 2... That being said, I'm just happy to hear any new John Scott music.

Folks,It appears a misunderstanding has lead us in the wrong direction - there is no composer assigned to Basic Instinct 2 yet and the John Scott working on this picture appears to be an editor!!!
This is highly irritating since I had two different sources claiming that John Scott, the composer who I love so much, was working on this film.
As you all know, I take very big pride in not announcing film music news that aren't confirmed by at least one official source. In this case, I had very bad luck. My sincerest apologies to you all!

Very interesting. Scott will do well with it, I think. I liked Goldsmiths score to the very trashy and dumb first film. LOL> Far too good for that.Best, J.
