Mine was finding a sealed copy of THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN hexagon-shaped disc for $1 at Rhino Records in Westwood, CA.

Second runner up: Sealed CHINATOWN CD for $2.99 (about a month ago!)

I traded a Smurf soundtrack LP by Legrand for 3 Delerue titles: TOURS DU MONDE, TOURS DU CIEL; LA REINE BLANCHE and A SUMMER STORY.

    Couple of good ones...
    APOLLO 13 - Score promo - $5.00
STEWART COPELAND Agency Promo - $4.00
    MIDNIGHT RUN - $5.00

Found all of them in the used bins in L.A. record stores. That was a while ago, and it seems that bin bargains are getting harder to find these days.

Black Beauty was at Half.com. Found Psycho II and Inchon there pretty cheap too. The Mulan promo was sitting in a discount bin at a local music store that seems to get a large number of promo cds, I've also gotten the score promos to Vanilla Sky, Living Out Loud and 102 Dalmations there, though none of those are quite as impressive as Mulan to me.

The sad thing is that I'd already paid a fairly hefty amount for the Mulan cd on ebay before it appeared in the bargain bin here, so as good a deal as it was, it's kinda my spare copy...

Black Robe (Delerue), new for $1.99 but that's nothing compared to shureman's deal.

$3.50 for a used copy of Charles Gerhardt's RCA compilation recording of "Citizen Kane: The Classic Film Scores of Bernard Herrmann." The price to number of plays ratio on that one is probably the best I've got in my collection.

Found RAIDERS in a record store for $11. It probably goes for upwards of $40 on eBay.

I have had many such experiences like this. Finding that old store in OKC back in 1981 was a real find. Got tons of cheap and rare stuff. Many, many LPs.

And then in 1996 while passing through College Station, Tx I stopped and checked Hastings there. They had a big sale on Varese CDs and Intradas. I bought a mess of them. All were $2.00 each. I got about 12 including Hot Shots Part Deux, some J. Newton Howards, Intrada's Julius Caesar and Ivanhoe and about 8 others. All 2 bucks apiece and all sealed.

The other big find was in KC in 1984 when I found dozens of great sealed LPs for 4 dollars each and many less. What a find!!!!!!!!! Many, many rare titles.

I bought ATLANTIS IN HI-FI from a Goodwill Thrift Shop back in 1977 for fifty cents. It didn't look like it had ever been played.

At Half Priced Books and Records here in Lawrence, where the old Jayhawk Post Office used to be, I found some really great LPs for cheap, cheap, cheap. Richard Rodgers Valiant Years for only .50 and it was in NM condition. What a find. Its in much better shape than the one I paid 12 dollars for back in 1986.

I lucked out again this weekend! I found another SEALED CD copy of STAGECOACH/TROUBLE WITH ANGELS on Mainstream at Rhino for $4. My brother was desperately looking for it after I sent him a CD-R copy of mine (he had to have the original). Now he has one, too!
