BT'S 'STEALTH' SCORE FIRES DIRECT HIT

(Hollywood, CA) Versatile composer and electronica musician BT has reteamed with director Rob Cohen on Stealth, 2005's summer blockbuster from Columbia Pictures, in theaters July 29. Jamie Foxx, Josh Lucas and Jessica Biel star in the epic action thriller about a squadron of elite pilots out to neutralize an out of control drone fighter jet equipped with artificial intelligence. Armed with an arsenal of high tech weaponry, the Navy's pet project threatens to turn against the country it was designed to protect. BT's score will set the tone for this summer's most vivid and intense action sequences.

BT is creating an architecture of modernist orchestral music to fuel Stealth's thrill of speed, excitement of chase and ferocity of combat, often composing in algorithmic codes and building instruments using a computer program to make cutting-edge treatments. "The exciting thing is getting to incorporate some of this musical technology," BT says, "You have these real polarities, these big pieces of orchestral music versus this crazy punk-rock sounding code. I'm getting to cover a lot of musical ground, it's great."

A gifted musician with several worldwide hit singles to his credit, BT was an inspired choice when Rob Cohen called on him to score The Fast and the Furious in 2001. His reputation as the creator of trance music piqued the interest of the director, who was looking for high-energy music compelling enough to drive the film's action and drama and sexy enough to compliment its hot cast. With only a handful of scoring credits on his resume, it was a risk, but it paid off big for the movie, the director, and BT. His resume now includes distinctive scores for the actioner Driven, the hip suspense comedy Go, crime thriller Under Suspicion and the critically-acclaimed drama Monster for which Charlize Theron won a Best Actress Oscar.

Beginning his musical journey at a young age, BT attended the Washington Conservatory of Music and the Julliard Satellite Program where he studied counter point, composition and theory. When he graduated high school he was off to the Berklee College of Music where he studied, among other things, film scoring. His world-renowned album releases of the epic progressive masterpieces IMA and ESCM spawned a slew of top ten singles in England and numerous American Billboard #1 singles such as "Blue Skies" featuring Tori Amos. But it was the wildly diverse Movement in Still Life that expanded the artistic evolution of his career and saw him embraced by an audience in his home country. Since that time he has also expanded his producing credits to include N'Sync's #1 hit single "Pop," as well as, two tracks for Britney Spears. His last album, Emotional Technology, featuring the hit "Simply Being Loved (Somnambulist)," is considered a milestone in electronic innovation.

Contrary to some reports, BT's PR peeps say he's the only composer on the project and will be utilising 100-piece orchestra mixed "with instruments he created using computer programs and algorithmic codes."

Strange. I heard that Randy Edelman had already written his music for this. Was it rejected? (Originally it was announced that him and BT were doing this as a joint venture.)

He is? Damn. I was looking forward to Edelman more than him... at least he actually writes music.

When I went to see the XxX sequel over the weekend, they ran a trailer for STEALTH and I could have sworn I saw Edelman's name in the credits. I was looking forward to hearing some new music from him.

Last time i checked,Randy Edelman was still aboard and had actually start to record the music, and quiet honestly i don't see Rob Cohen doing a film withou Edelman on board...

Well let me correct this,Randy Edelman has indeed left this project, two months ago ut seems,so the recording of the music must have been from BT and not Randy Edelman..

Thank You Dan for this info...

Cohen, er, directed THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS and that did not have a score by Edelman.

I guess STEALTH and Cohen are just too impossibly hip for Edelman.

The IMDb page on Stealth only lists BT, and Trevor Morris is credited with additional music.

Oh well, at least the movie still has Jessica "only reason I didn't run screaming from Blade Trinity" Biel.
