Dynamite! I liked Mansell's theme for Dirk Pitt.

I want this CD- but I don't want to go to some store that won't have it-

PeterK, any chance you'll be offering this disc here?

I'm so glad to hear that a release date is set, and it's even better that it's so soon! I enjoyed the movie, and the score really stood out to me, an interesting combination of Jerry Goldsmith and James Bond.

Although, it doesn't seem like many places are going to carry it, as of yet anyway - I looked around at Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and neither place has it listed.

I just got confirmation from the guys at Bulletproof that the street date for the score will be closer to 6/1. Really looking forward to this one.

No problem, BMikeJ. I'm glad to see someone else is looking forward to this score - I'm a huge fan of the Dirk Pitt novels, so I've been really excited to hear it ever since they announced that Sahara was going to be made into a movie.

    Strange though...

there really isn't much score in the movie...
I guess it got all clipped out.

Usually when the hero does something err.... heroic? up comes his theme or leitmotif (Indiana Jones, etc...)

So there are action scenes in Sahara off course.. many off them stupid *yawn* and straightforward... (hey this is just a popcorn cheeze flick)
    But NO MUSIC!
Just raw sound effects of what appears to be bullets skewing by and sand disturbed...

Am I wrong here or did I suffer massive oxygen deprivation?

I personally noticed quite a bit of score, especially for the action scenes. Notice, there are QUITE a few tracks listed above. And yes, I do think that part of it is that perhaps composer Clint Mansell recorded quite a few cues that were later replaced by source music.
