Although, many of his scores are so over the top and all, I like some of them. He likes to do the cheesy films, doesn't he? LOL.

Of the films that follow my favorite score by him is Godzilla:

    1. Independence Day-great themes-the man can write some good themes, no doubt of that, however, some of the non-stop loud music was too much in the film, overkill

    2. Stargate-has some great themes, but once again overkill in many areas of film, overscored, I like some of the cues a lot in this though, battle music reminds me of John Williams some

    3. Last of the Dogmen-some nice themes and action music, this one is pretty good too

    4. Godzilla-although pure cheese and a horrible film, so dumb, I really like this score, especially the percussion and variety in it, there are many cues in this I like, one my favorites is the one with the great snare drum work in middle of score. Although the score reminds me of many others(like most of his do) I really like this one.

    Take care, J.

    Godzilla is good in orchestrations..
But the 2 main themes are almost a copy and paste of "speed" and "cape of fear" main themes.

Ah yes, the wonderful special requests of directors. I agree about Godzilla though...excellent score for the worst movie. If only there were more music released than those precious little 50 promotional minutes...

Arnold needs another movie that involves a monster, aliens or wide open spaces where exciting things happen. I do enjoy the variety he's been getting lately (the Waltz theme from Stepford Wives is one of the best themes of last year), but could really go for another ginormous over-the-top orchestra-choir-fest.

But what about mediaventures? they copy and paste themes they've done for the past 15 years.

Jeff78 we are talking about Arnold's Godzilla.
    Not about MV.
And I think your argument is too old....hans zimmer have 100 scores and just around 20 of this are "media ventures Cool sound"
Harry gregson williams, john powell have a original point of view.
You have reason, media ventures copy and paste many times his themes.
But we are talking about arnold godzilla. And its true his main tune is very similar to speed or cape of fear.
    Jeff78....Come on....

Which is worse though? Plagiarising yourself or plagiarising other people.

My point is, who cares. I love Arnold's music. I love most of mediaventures scores. Even though they sound the same. With Godzilla, I do not hear anythign that could sound like Cape Fear. Now, there is a cue in Godzilla which uses the first 2-3 notes from the theme from Speed. I would not call that cue a copy and paste of the Speed theme.

Go back and listen to Cape Fear's opening title music and the weak theme Arnold uses for GINO. There is a strong resemblance.

It wouldn't be the first time, ID4 and The Poseiden Adventure share a similar motif.

    Probably just a coincidence.

I liked Godzilla as well and the Speed theme resemblance didn't bother me because that theme is so great, and is at least used with great effect in Godzilla. I mean who wouldn't want to hear one of thier favorite synth themes performed by a large orchestra and choir anyway?!

The score should have gotten a release! Its The Musketeer I could have been without.

I still wish Jan De Bont would have done his version of Godzilla before dropping out. His script was more true to the Godzilla films. And I would have liked to hear what Mark Mancina could have done with Godzilla.

Not to get too far off the topic, but it should be pointed out that the good Godzilla script was written by Ted Elliot & Terry Rossio, and not De Bont.

Well I mean his script as, what he was ging to direct. But I thought he did do a little writing on it, much like he did on Speed 2.
