Folks,Please refresh my memory- some one mentioned there's a CD sold only at Disney World that had Goldsmith's music for Soarin' Over California. Well, it so happens, I'm going to Disney World for the first time ever during the first weekend of June and a little after. Can anybody pass on some info if this CD is at the park this year- even if its a new one that has the music?
I doubt Gavin Greenaway's Millenium Celebration music is still around, but if I can get the Goldsmith stuff, I'll be satisfied (even if it has other stuff I'll listen to once).

His cue can be found on the official California Adventure CD called Music From Disney's California Adventure, 13 tracks total. I'm not sure if they sell it at Walt Disney world, but I'm assuming they would. They do still sell it at Disneyland.posted 03-12-2005 02:29 PM PT (US)

I recently visited Disneyland and didn't buy a pass for both the Disney park and California Adventure, but as I walked through the gates they were playing Goldsmith's "Soarin' Over California" and I had to buy the disc, despite the inclusion of several dreadful songs. The only other highlight is the fine orchestral piece, "Seasons of The Vine" by Bruce Broughton.I also bought the Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion disc with Debney's adaptions of Elfman's music. Not really recommended for anyone other than diehard fans of that score.

Greenaway's Millennium Celebration music is still available. Buy the Illuminations cd which is sold at EPCOT (and elsewhere). And don't miss the outstanding Illuminations fireworks extravaganza for a chance to hear Greenaway's brilliant score in all of its glory. Also, by June Soarin' will have opened at EPCOT, and you will be able to experience Goldsmith's score in the context of the attraction. Have fun!!

I work at Disney World and currently there is no cd out here with Goldsmith's Soarin, though I do believe there will be a new cd out when the Happiest Celebration On Earth starts, May 5th, that will contain the theme for this celebration sung by Leann Rimes. So the new cd might contain the music for Soarin. I will let you know if I find a track listing. The Millenium Celebration cd is not available at WDW anymore but the current Epcot cd does contain Illuminations and The Tapestry of Dreams, which Greenaway also wrote. But, The Millenium Celebration cd is available on Ebay. Go to: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38014&item=6514616841&tc=photo
and You'll see there is 33 brand new cds available directly from Disney and they are only $4.99. In my opinion, the Millenium Celebration cd is much, much better because it has Tapestry of Nations, wrote by Greenaway. Tapestry of Dreams is sort of a remix of Nations.
A side note: Did anyone know that the music for the commercial for The Happiest Celebration On Earth was composed by Alan Silvestri?
Widescreen-I hope you have a fun time here at Disney World. Make sure you do see Illuminations at Epcot, and Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom. Soarin should be open by then, but don't miss Mission Space where you can hear music by Trevor Rabin. And if you happen to see Cinderellabration at the Magic Kingdom, you might see me as a castle guard. I also drive the floats in the Share A Dream Come True parade and Spectromagic.

Folks,I appreciate all the responses- Jasom, I'll definitely look for you there, though I doubt you'll have time for out of character conversation. My focus when we get there is Disney MGM for Star Wars Weekends. Since I was a kid, I've always wanted to take the Star Tours ride. Mission Space and Animal Kingdom are definitely targets for my wife and I.
Meanwhile, I have high hopes for this new CD having Mission Space and Soarin over California.
However, wasn't there a California Adventure CD at one point?

Well, if you are coming for Star Wars Weekends, maybe you will see me. I was lucky enough to do it last year as a Stormtrooper and am hoping to get to do it again this year. I got to meet all of the guest celebrities and my favorite weekend was when Anthony Daniels came and he had his own show which involved Chewbacca, some ewoks, and some stormtroopers, and I got to do it.
By the way, I hope you checked out that ebay page with the Millenium Celebration cd on it. It is an awesome cd and for only $4.99!!!, who could pass it up.Jasom np - Handel's Messiah

The Millenium Celebration cd has Illuminations on it. The only difference between the Millenium Celebration cd and the current Epcot Illuminations cd is that the Millenium cd has Illuminations, We Go On, Promise, Tapestry of Nations and the Millenium Celebration theme song "Celebrate the Future Hand in Hand", while the Epcot Illuminations cd has Illuminations, We Go On, Promise, and Tapestry of Dreams. The Only reason to get the Illuminations cd over the Millenium cd is to have Tapestry of Dreams, which in my opinion is not as good as Tapestry of Nations. So your best bet is to get the Millenium Celebration cd.Jasom
