It "sounds" like it's from Orff's "Carmina Burana."

Don't recognise it either. There's one point which does sound similar to Orff, but something tells me its a lot more recent than that. The name Trevor Jones came to mind while listening to it... though I can't imagine what Trevor Jones score it could be.

Could it be Conan the Destroyer? I haven;t heard that but I think parts of this cue sound like Conan the Barbarian...

I think it's a classical piece. I've never heard it before though, but it does sound a lot like Orff's Carmina Burana.Clayton

I'm positive I heard it in a trailer once--I know it's not Orff. I recognized the variation at the end...but I can't *place* it, exactly...

It doesn't sound much like Orff. It sounds very much like it's based on Orff.

Well, I was going to say first knight by Goldsmith, because I hadnt heard that one for a while, but popped it in the cd player, and its not. Trying to remember who did the trailer music for the teaser of fellowship of the rings, maybe its part of that?

I'm trying to remember, but did those old Marine ads where the guy fights a dragon possibly use this, or were they actually scored with Carmina Burana?

You're right. Not from Glory and its not Orff. Its not Jones either. Sounds similar to lots of things though.J. Not from First Knight either.

There are a billion Carmina burana copies out there, made for movies, commercials, games etc. If you like the style, there's alot of music that you will fall for, you don't have to find this particular piece. The melody in this piece isn't even that good. My favorite "Carmina burana" copy is "Waxing Elisabeth" from "Young Sherlock Holmes". Seek out this piece instead of the low quality piece you're currently trying to find, that's my advice.Peter

That doesn't make any sense at all. He's searching for the name of that piece, not one like it.Ryan

It makes sense because they all sound the same. Might as well do with the original and a couple of the best rip-offs.

I'm sorry, but "Waxing Elizabeth" from YSH doesn't sound at all like the clip above.Ryan

Broughton's melody and orchestration is much superior, but other than that it's basically the same stuff. But I don't want to hijack this thread, especially not for such a futile disagreement.Peter

I'm starting to guess it's probably a copy Glory itself. Imagine that eh? A copy of a copy.

A bit late to the party, but I believe I worked with this very cue a couple of years ago for a project I was editing. It came from The Extreme Music library. I'm afraid I can't remember which cue on what disc it was...sorry. They have a website where you can sample the cues on their discs. You might find it that way. Hope this helps. The site is: extrememusic.com

I went through a bunch of those tracks on their site, too. No luck. I'm no longer at the post-house where I cut the short film in which I used this track. It was a couple of years ago. I'll see if I can get any of my contacts there to let me know what that track was.

Not to sound impertinent but was it perhaps from a commercial? There's something vaguely familiar. I honestly think it might have been, which would certainly lend credence to the knockoff possibility.
