Hi fellow collectors,
I just likes to know if some pretty pricy cd's are worth their money or are they just part of a temporary hype!?
to name a few:-Raggedy man(Goldsmith),
-Bloodsport(Paul Hertzog),
-The rose Tattoo(Alex North),
-Runaway(Goldsmith),
-Fedora(Rozsa)René

I own 'Raggedy Man' (twice), Runaway and Bloodsport. To be honest, no CD is worth more than 50$ !
But 'Raggedy Man' is the only of the three that i mentioned i would give this amount of money for.
A beautiful, gentle Goldsmith score.[Message edited by lars b on 01-17-2005]

Honestly, if Runaway wasn't by Goldsmith it wouldn't be so highly sought after. It's a synth score to a so-so movie whose claim to fame rests mainly on Gene Simmons (of KISS fame)perfomance.
If your a Goldsmith nut, then you'll have to have it. If you are buying it because you think it will be timeless film music, get something else.
Rose Tattoo is excellant

Agree with MWRuger.I think RUNAWAY is a horrible score, I never play it, and before anyone asks "please send me the CD" I don't own the CD, I bought it on LP way wayyyy back and had no intention whatsoever of replacing it on CD!

Raggedy Man is an excellent Goldsmith score. He wasn't just cashing his check at this point in his career. The Rose Tattoo is not one of North's more listenable scores.
Runaway is for deaf people. It's AWFUL!
Fedora is worth every penny it costs. A dark, brooding, but extremely listenable score by Rozsa near the end of his career. This one gets played all the time, even after all these years.

My feeling is that Fedora is the best of the bunch you mentioned. A really neat dark lovely score. The Rose Tatoo relies on too much jazz for me. Raggedy Man is nice (I like the cue 'The Kite') but just doesn't get the play that the Rozsa does.

My tuppeny piece for the ones I've heard - I wouldn't pay big bucks for anything (Scots miser me), but Goldsmith's RUNAWAY is quite entertaining, very inventive, but far from great. Watching the titles of the movie I was thinking "Crikey, this could have REALLY BETTER MUSIC!" It's not that it's bad, it's just that it could have had more impact - the credit sequence was set up for a great, subtly powerful score, which it didn't really get.Rozsa's FEDORA - You know what you're getting with Rozsa. He never did a bad score. FEDORA is... very good, but not amongst his most memorable works. I'm saying this because I can't remember how it goes.

Guess it's a matter of taste with Rose Tattoo. I love it, but I like jazzy scores.Fedora is also quite good, being a Rozsa score. I never met one that wasn't at least listenable. This one's not his best, but it's still pretty good
Raggedy Man is a decent Goldsmith score and miles above Runaway. I'm glad I have a copy, but I wouldn't pay huge bucks for it.
