Aleph Records have secured the rights to the second and third DIRTY HARRY scores, MAGNUM FORCE by Lalo and THE ENFORCER by Jerry Fielding. Scheduled for release next year! Thrilling news, in my opinion!

It'll be great to have those scores. I've ordered DIRTY HARRY already and will probably have to get MAGNUM FORCE in due course. Remember the Main Titles? Totally Lalo urban dramatic funk, with that almost chilling use of a distorted voice (sort of like Lalo doing Morricone's coyote yell from THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY). Can't really remember much score in the film, just a vague recollection of a kind of scarily electronic hushed whispering/whistling every time David Soul as the baddie appears.

And of course, what tremendous news about THE ENFORCER. Three tracks were released before, but it'll be great to have the whole thing, brief though it is (I calculate about twenty-five minutes of music in the film). It's in the line of Fielding's THE BIG SLEEP, with jazzy moments (and one stand out rooftop chase, only half of which appeared in the earlier release, which is as glorious as anything in THE GAUNTLET), big band orchestrations and typically Fielding atonality.

At first I thought it strange to have Lalo Schifrin's own label put someone else's music out, but I'm not complaining about it. I wonder if Fielding will be coupled on the same disc with MAGNUM FORCE.
