    Hey guys

I took a chance on three scores this week and am really curious to see what you think of them (there aren't too many reviews).

    Joe vs. The Volcano
    Mutiny on the Bounty
    The Agony and the Ecstasy

They sounded wonderful on the internet (Mutiny is a particular stand out), so I'm really excited; I've also never heard a Delerue score before and he seems to have an amazing reputation around here...

    Thanks for the input

I only have Joe Vs. the Volcano and I can assure you that you won't regret buying it. It has one of the most beautiful love themes you'll ever hear as well as plenty of other quality material. It's a pleasure from start to finish. No boring bits at all.

"Mutiny on the Bounty" is, for me, one of the five BEST scores of all time.

This CD does it more than justice. It's an orchestral juggernaut with heroic themes, splendiferous orchestrations and virtuosic performance by a huge orchestra.

There are roughly THREE presentations of the score...the score as heard in the film, an "alternate" score, some "intermediate" takes on key cues and then some specially recorded cues for the LP release.

It's an unbelievable -- and MAGNIFICENT -- recording. It's everything a presentation of a great score should be and much, much more.

You could not have spent your money more wisely!

"The Agony and the Ecstasy" is one of the great scores Alex North wrote. It's not at all like "Spartacus" or "Cleopatra," but it is purely North and it's a triumphant musical portrait of renaissance Italy with exquisite musical dynamics. It's a tour-de-force hamstrung by a movie that could not possibly have inspired it.

    Also, it's money wisely spent!

    You made three terrific purchases.

    Thanks for the info!

Mutiny showed up yesterday but I haven't had a spare moment to listen to it
    I cannot wait though!!!

"Joe" and "Agony" should hopefully arrive later on this week.

I'm blown away by the quality of Mutiny's production though. The liner notes are probably the most detailed I've ever come across...
