to go to a fourth Lord of the Rings movie.
Shucks, I've had three years of Elves and Hobbits and Heroes and grand themes from Shore. Now all I get are Fat Albert and Christmas With the Kranks. Eh.
If only Tolkien had continued the adventures of a Ranger, dwarf, and elf. Doesn't seem like Christmas without these grand movies to look forward too, so I guess I'll have to push Santa for big diamonds. Big movies during Christmas seem rather diminished this year. Some more filmscore scores would be nice too.

Same here. A 'Rings' had become part of the tradition for my friends and I. Now there's no excitement, no build-up with dinner, movie and the thrill of wanting to see it again immediately.Ryan

Well...I'd just like a reissue of some of those Varese CDs that I missed or perhaps a new score from John Barry. But then, people in Hell want ice water. Doesn't mean you're gonna get it.:-(

Yeah, "Crono's Crew" is all kind of bummed this year...but no worry, we got the DVDs...but it's not the same. But, we'll all be right there at the release of "The Hobbit," (looking as bad ass as ever) if that ever comes of the Sony/MGM merger.

I repeat, someone should turn The Silmarillion into some kind of "documentary" series.

You have great wishes, John.Someone is making a new version of The Hobbit?
I'm with Ryan. I got used to a big festival dinner, a Rings movie, and then trying to get tickets for another viewing. DVD's are fine, but the real movies in the theater can't be beat.

Hey at least this Christmas we're getting 50 extra minutes of ROTK...Small compensation, true, but much better than no LOTR at all.

I can't agree more. Me and my family (My family and I) have been looking for a movie to do to on Christmas which is now kind of a tradition. But the pickins are kind of slim. Lemony Snicket looks somewhat charming. But it's no LOTR.Jz

They could do one based on "The Sumalarian." But that would be more like a discovery channel documentary about the world of Middle Earth than a movie.. HmmWell there is always Alexander and Phantom to fill the void. Though both movies are getting mediocre reviews.
EDIT: Hah Marian, I didn't see your reply. Well it's good to know we aggre with each other.

For Christmas I want Santa to fly me in his sled to England so I can buy adopted Timmer a pint of ale and some chips. Then Santa can take me back to the East Coast where I can dine with Dana, Howard, Chris, and Cat. Then he can fly me back to California where I can dine with Ron and Joe and several others. Oh yeah, PeterK, I'd love to see New Mexico too...but in the summer.

Hey Joan, sounds great! Next time you're in the NY/metro area, look me up! I have the perfect place picked out (really FINE dining!), and I'm sure we could round up a few others too!

Apart from peace in the world and smiley love, I want lots and lots of lovely socks. You see, last year I asked for CDs and got socks, so I'm trying this the other way round.

LOL Graham, good thinking!Joan, New Mexico is best in the summer when the rains have been good (like this year, not like last year). Winters are cold, but there is nothing like waking up to a 10" snowfall, seen through the window from inside a warm old house. Of course, then the little guy goes outside and destroys the beautiful blanket of snow (and I soon join him).
I don't know what I'd really like for Christmas as far as soundtracks go. Filmscoremonthly's timing of their 100th title (MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY) comes this week, right as the holidays get going. It's a fantastic score... and groundbreaking in many ways. I haven't even begun to read the liner book yet. This is a score I have been hoping for on CD every year since becoming intimate with it several years back transferring the deluxe LP release to CD for the radio show I hosted. I couldn't think of a better #100 for FSM.
It's been an excellent year for movie soundtracks on CD, that's for sure. Seemingly, each year has been better than the previous year, at least in the last few years.

Hey, at least we still get Howard Shore for Christmas. Although the score won't be realeased until weeks later, watching The Aviator will stil rock.

Dear Joan:I hope you have ordered the expanded "Return of the King," because there are 50 MORE MINUTES OF MOVIE...and that will ALMOST BE like getting a fourth film.
It won't come out before I trek east for a couple of weeks to celebrate with family.
But when I return, I eagerly anticipate a FULL DAY of the entire expanded trilogy! And then I'll treat myself, on following days, to the extras.
P.S. When Santa flies you back east, you can dine with me there...then, when he flies you back to the west coast, you can dine with me here.
Do you want Chinese, Thai, or something out of the ordinary???? I know some GREAT places for food!

Hey Ron, I've heard about those 50 extra minutes. Enticing. And I'll eat any kind of food. The selection in my area is rather small. Getting to a big city is a culinary treat![Message edited by joan hue on 12-10-2004]

What I Really Want For Christmas is:...Peter Jackson to produce/direct "The Hobbit" and Shore to score it. The prequel to LOTR was always my favorite read of the series, plenty of story to work with for a sensational movie (bring Smaug to life).
