    The only album so far:

    Resident Evil: Apocalypse

Pretty good music, I think I like it more than the first film's score, in fact!

    Very slow year over all.

BANDOLERO was the the last really good album I got.

Loved ANGELS IN AMERICA, and I recently found a copy of MICHAEL CONVERTINO'S "WRESTLING ERNEST HEMINGWAY" which I really liked. Convertino is one of the best kept secrets in the scoring biz.

I'm not the biggest Michael Kamen fan in the world, but I jumped at BRAZIL when I saw it in the local greengrocer's at only 8 Euros. I must say, I was disappointed. There are moments of Kamen magic, but the CD seems more a souvenir for fans of the film than anything else. You know, dialogue, tracks all merging into one another - and an absolutely maddening insistence on putting the old Ary Barroso tune through the grinder in umpteen versions. Fine in the context of the movie, but it drove me up the wall as a purely aural experience. I thought I'd read that BRAZIL was one of Michael Kamen's best, but now I think people were talking about BARON MUNCHAUSEN.

Received last week: The Great Train Robbery - Deluxe Edition (with big thanks to Philipp). Now that I finally have an original copy of that score, perhaps Goldsmith can sign it at his next concert....oh, yes.

Seriously, I always wanted to have Train Robbery signed. Only had a CDR so far.

Les Choristes is quite an attractive score. I've heard five Coulais scores now, and this one is quite different in character to any of the others. Crimson Rivers is an excellent brooding thriller score which blends synths and orchestra well. Les Choristes is some kind of drama set in a monastery, with the main action surrounding a children's choir. As such, there are a few childen's songs that vocally are similar to A Filetta's work on Himalaya and Winged Migrations. There is also a lovely main theme which appears throughout the work. Well worth a try if you like Winged Migrations or Himalaya, but the links to Crimson Rivers aren't that obvious to me at least.

If you favor the work of Wojciech Kilar, then you should really get Coulais' Le Comte de Monte Cristo, for the French miniseries starring Gerard Depardieu.

Great jazzy score! Fun theme. Only problem some people might find is it's a little too much like Barry. I love it.
