I feel like an idiot. I'm not a huge fan of lots of older composers, so I haven't listened to much of Rosa's music. I think I spelled his name wrong, I'M SORRY!!! What I'm looking for is a compilation of his music for my wife's grandfather. He is especially fond of Rosa's music from Ben-Hur.

You should get 'em the 2-disc MIKLOS ROZSA AT M-G-M from Rhino. No BEN HUR on there, but there are significantly long suites from IVANHOE, KING OF KINGS and more.Ryan

Some of my favorite compilations on him are:1. Epic Film scores by him-just out-13.99
2. His 80th birthday CD on varese
3. the Citadel and Baycities CDs
4. The Silva compilation of Rozsa musicThose are all good.

My favorite Rozsa compilation CD is Silva's "The Epic Film Music Of Miklos Rozsa."It is performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic, conducted by Kenneth Alwyn and features tracks from BEN-HUR, KING OF KINGS, EL CID, QUO VADIS, THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD, SODOM AND GOMORRAH, MADAME BOVARY, BEAU BRUMMELL, and ALL THE BROTHERS WERE VALIANT.

I really like the Gerhardt album, but not much (any?) of the music on there could be considered Ben Hur-like.

You could always just get him the Ben-Hur soundtrack and work up from there.....
