Seeing as Mikael hasn't passed this news onto this board, I'll save him the time:
http://www.musicfromthemovies.com/article.asp?ID=372Christophe Beck to score 'Elektra':
Among soundtrack collectors, Christophe Beck's scores for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series are highly popular. Now we will be able to hear Beck's heroine scoring style on the big screen. Music from the Movies can confirm that has been hired to compose the original score for Elektra, the Daredevil spinoff starring Jennifer Garner as the female warrior Elektra Natchios. The film, which opens in January 2005, is directed Rob Bowman, who helmed Reign of Fire two years ago.
Christophe Beck is probably the busiest composer in Hollywood at the moment. So far, he has scored five films this year, including Garfield, A Cinderella Story and Without a Paddle. Apart from Elektra, he also has romantic comedy The Perfect Man, starring Hilary Duff, Taxi and The Pink Panther with Steve Martin in the pipeline.
Mikael Carlsson
******************************************I think this is great news. Beck is a very talented and versatile composer and I'm sure he'll do a much better job with this than Graeme Revell did on "Daredevil." Let's hope the suits at Fox leave him alone and don't try to force a bunch of rock music into the movie.

This, coupled with the First Look I saw this morning on the Elektra movie, have me very excited about this movie.

If it's half as good as DAREDEVIL it'll be half as good as the worst comic-book adaption, like... Ever!Ryan

If you think Daredevil is the worst comic book adaptation ever, you need to do a little more research. Howard The Duck, anyone?

Let's be positive and hope it's half as good as the last time Beck worked on a project about a beautiful kick-ass babe who loses a parent and comes back from the dead (although unlike Buffy, we never actually saw Elektra die). And that Rob Bowman remembers to take advantage of what he has this time (I haven't forgiven him for Reign of Fire).

At least Howard The Duck didn't have a paperclip kill scene. And Revell's score was dishwater.

With Rob Bowman directing this movie might actually be good, but I'm not holding my breath...--Brian

Ryan, it's Howard The Duck... As Mister Miyagi said, "No can defense." There will never be a worse comic book adaptation than that.

Guys, those are definitely stinkers. But Howard The Duck is not only a terrible comic book adaptation but a testament to the excess of 80's studio big budget spending. The movie sucked from the word Go and they kept throwing money at it. Catwoman may be swimming in these waters as well.

Well, in fairness, "The Fantastic Four" was never made for public consumption. Marvel wanted to retain film rights to the FF property, so action had to be taken upon those rights, and a film (cheaply put together as it is) had to be made in order to keep legal claim. Stan Lee says as much, anyway.

Just an additional note to the Off-Topic conversation that has started:Composing dou David & Eric Wurst scored the Fantastic Four movie and some of the score is on one of their promotional CDs. I read it sound like a rip of Star Wars.

The Wurst Bros promo has a sampling of their music for the Fantastic Four, not the complete score. It is a little derivative but I think it's still pretty good. They are incredibly talented.
