Okay below will be the listings for the full score for First Contact I have (bootleg of course), and I was wondering if anyone here might know which tracks Jerry's son Joel had written? I know Joel had worked with his father to do this score...but maybe you guys can help out here since you did the same for Air Force One's score with McNeely...

I would be willing to ask for a copy of this score if I can be assured that one will not be available soon in the stores.

I don't have the time at this moment to answer the questions (Will try in about 6 hours), but the Trek scores are Paramount - I can assure you a complete release won't be anytime soon. As Ford pointed out, we were lucky GNP got any at all.

And if by some far out chance this wonderful score gets a complete release, it has to wait it's turn behind ST2 and ST3.

I agree with with Justin said...Star Trek's 2 and 3 need a proper release first...then Star Trek 4, 5, 6 then Generations and finally the last 3 movies...well hell might as well have a proper release for all 10 movie scores...lol But I doubt that Paramount will be releasing the full score any time soon ligit unless they do something to honor Goldsmith's death by releasing it...

Edit: Justin I added you to my MSN buddy list by the way if you have MSN.

Unfortunately BigT, I don't have IM on this computer (And not MSN internet anyway), so I can't talk to people like I used to. :-(

    Anyway, here are the answers!:

    Joel tracks:

Track 2, CD1: Locutus 1:29 (Joel did this cue and Jerry did the main theme, which were edited together on the GNP CD, as some other cues were.)

    Track 4, CD1: Battle Watch 1:11

Track 9, CD1: Search For The Borg 1:51 (Another reason why we need a complete release!)

    Track 14 & 15, CD1: Retreat 4:00

Track 23, CD1: 39.1 Degrees Celcius 4:45 (Another reason why Joel should be big one day! As a composer.)

    Track 3, CD2: The Pheonix 1:06 (alternate)
Track 12, CD2: The Pheonix 1:03 (3 seconds dead air.)

    Track 6, CD2: Smorgas-Borg 1:24

Track 7, CD2: They're Here 0:24 (Right before 39.1 cue starts in a similar way.)

    Track 11, CD2: Flight Of The Pheonix/ Death Of A Queen 6:22

Funny enough, Joel is the reason why I got into Bootleg trading, though at the time I didn't know it. It was the cue "Flight Of The Pheonix/ Death Of A Queen" that made me get my first boot.

It's been downhill ever since. ;-)

"39.1 Degrees Celcius" is 2 cues together as well, if I recall correctly.

From memory, Joel also helped with:

    Hollister
    Runaway

Now, I heard that Joel was the one Jerry had wanted for Air Force One, but Joel was too busy, but I heard Joel was able to do at least one cue in the end. But everyone says that isn't true. Make your own mind up about it.

Any questions and I will try to answer.

    I LOVE THIS SCORE!!!!!

    Oh! also wanted to add:

The 2nd CD features a wonderful alternate cue of "Borg Montage" (Where the crew search for Borg and it ends with them opening a dark room and we see red laser lights from Borg.) and this cue is 17 seconds longer. It's jsut like hte film version, except more reved up. It features pounding booms and drums and all and I LOVE IT. 17 seconds longer and more umph; makes me wonder what that scene was originally like. Maybe they had to reshoot, or edit it to keep a lower rating.

Thanks for the info Justin. Huh I didn't know Joel had written 39.1 Degrees Celsius.....I wonder why GNP then added it to the OST? Weird....but it's still cool piece non the less.

The GNP CD does list which cues were written by Joel and which ones were written by Jerry.

This is one of my dearest expanded albums. The sound quality is almost better than on the official release, and there's a lot of music that's really great. Especially Joel's contributions are very attractive ("Flight to the Phoenix", e.g.)

I agree...I love the full bootleg for First Contact as well. I also agree that the sound is even better than it's predassor the OST...I also like Star Trek Nemesis which is my second favorite Star Trek score. The full bootleg is good, but it still lacks the film version for The Dilithium Mines Of Remus and the full Shinzon and Donatra track unfortunately. Track listings for the one I have for Nemesis are below...I relabeled the track from Repairs to Arrival At Romulas since it was mis-labeled...that urkes me a bit that they mis-label cues like that...

But I wish these two scores Star Trek's First Contact and Nemesis would get a proper release, if they did I'd buy them in a heart beat.

Edity the dead air out and they all fit on one CD, though we should keep going on and on, or else PeterK will blow a gasket and kill us all with broken shreads of CD-Rs while we sleep.

Every boot is always mising something. The FirsT contact 2CD is missing the film version of The Dish and another cue. Both on the GNP CD by the way. And the boot has great sound, but not anywhree near the GNP.
The mixing (Or lack thereof) is different, that's all. But I like the differnt mix in some places. Like the part in the movie where they try to get into Engineering and Picard pulls the handle and the music stops and the hear it echo, or reverb, or what ever. O nthe GNP CD you can barely hear it. But on the boot it's loud and pronounced and I love that! Plus also the wood click beat right before he pulls the handle, the goes with the music. And the slightly different ending.

Uh, if you look at the cues I provided earlier, you will see I got a 2CD set and not the single version. And I am very versed in this score. I love it.

Plus yours is not compelte, it appears, by your tracklsit, that you are missing one cue. The cue you can barely hear because of talking and soudn effects where the Borg Queen is talking to Picard and we see flash backs of when he was Locutus.
    "All The Time" on CD2.
