According to ST.net, the score for "Spidy 2" will be released later this summer.

    Justin,

Believe me..."X2" is just cool. I did the "S2" to be a cryptic dork just to see how many people would click on the thread for shits and giggles.

Hey, I'm the person who posted the other post about the score... Do you know when this summer they will release it? I am just so anxious to get it (and impatient, too.) Or could you please give me a link to the website that says this? Thanks in advance.

Yes Odin I know who you are and no, I don't know a release date.

My guess is sometime after the movie like the original. I'd look for it in late July early Aug.

Yeah, thanks to you and Dan Goldwasser for pointing that out. I had gone there, thinking that might be it, but didn't see anything relating to the news. Just found it though...

Here's hoping it proves correct. Very much looking forward to see/hearing how Elfman has advanced the music from the first film!

I don't know about you, but I buy everything! Don't very much care for downloading these days. But, I won't call anyone a cretin if they do...

As for the sharing of albums, I admit to doing so, but unlike most I only do so when there's no other way to hear the music. I'll leave it to them to decide if they want to buy it or not! Assuming, it can even be purchased!

Funny, because you're a frequent poster at GamingForce.com, where NO ONE buys soundtrack albums. They just bitch and moan and request commercially available albums (more often than unreleased music). Either all of those sad nerds are cheap *******s or they spend all of their money on pervy Manga novels, I'm not sure, but there is a helluva lotta infringement going on at that site, and Sean, you're right in the middle of it.

Not quite true, but there's plenty of people like that, but there's also many who buy CDs as well. GFF has just become bad recently with people only going there to leech all the music they can. Too bad there's some who give it to them without much thought. Getting tired of it myself, considering how well the forums are otherwise...

Anyway, I for one visit to talk about the music, since there's more discussion about all soundtracks, not how it appears to be limited for the most part to film and TV scores here and other film music forums. More interesting IMO!

Yeah, well, it happens everywhere. I guess it's just more noticeable there...

Oh well, my good natured naiveness thinks if someone has liked an album, they'll buy it. As a result, I'll upload an album sometimes to get people to notice it. Probably shouldn't as much, if not at all...

Got this article off AOL Entertainment news:

    James

    'Spider-Man' Soundtrack Customized for Regions

(Billboard) - Sony Entertainment wants the "Spider-Man 2" compilation soundtrack to take over the world.

In what the company is calling the most ambitious global marketing plan ever for a soundtrack, Sony is releasing as many as 11 versions of the soundtrack internationally. One of the chief goals is to break select Sony artists on the album in multiple markets.

In the United States, Columbia Records/Sony Music Soundtrax released the 15-song "Spider-Man 2" compilation soundtrack June 22. Dashboard Confessional's "Vindicated" and Train's "Ordinary" are the co-lead singles from the U.S. and Canadian versions of the album; both are also being worked in select international markets.

Additional songs from Sony Music artists appear on the soundtrack's international versions. In Europe, tracks by U.S. act Switchfoot and Sweden's Ana Johnnson are being worked as singles in most markets.

"From day one, we had worldwide ambitions for this project," Sony Music Soundtrax president Glen Brunman says.

Instead of opening the movie on different dates in different countries, Columbia/Sony Pictures set a worldwide release date of June 30 for "Spider-Man 2." That fueled the idea for a massive global campaign for the soundtrack.

Sony Pictures Entertainment president of worldwide music Lia Vollack elaborates: "We wanted a way to reach people internationally that we didn't with the first movie."

Brunman says Sony executives worldwide submitted demos from local artists. Bonus tracks and lead singles were chosen for specific territories.

"It's a very modern-rock-leaning soundtrack," Brunman explains. "We decided that the soundtrack is not about having the biggest-selling artists but to have music that's right for the soundtrack. These songs were specifically written for the spirit of the movie and the Spider-Man character."

Among the previously unreleased songs on the album are Maroon5's "Woman," Yellowcard's "Gifts and Curses" and Hoobastank's "Did You."

Even though most of the songs on the soundtrack do not appear in the movie, Vollack defends the use of the "inspired-by" concept.

"I don't advocate 'inspired-by' soundtracks for every movie, but it works in this case, because almost all of the artists wrote these songs just for the soundtrack."

Sony's film score to "Spider-Man 2," featuring the music of composer Danny Elfman, is due July 20. The label also released Elfman's score to the original 2002 "Spider-Man" movie. Two of Elfman's instrumental tracks appear on the "Spider-Man 2" compilation.

For the compilation soundtrack, local artists' tracks are getting a special push in their home markets as well as in international markets where Sony sees special potential for those acts.

Sony Music International president Rick Dobbis acknowledges that this is not the first time soundtracks have used local music and artists; Disney, for example, has made a specialty of localizing soundtracks. But he says what makes the project distinct is that the localization is "quite extensive."

In the United States, the original "Spider-Man" compilation soundtrack has sold 1.1 million copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Sony says the album has sold 1.9 million copies worldwide.

(This story was reported by Christie Eliezer in Melbourne, Tom Ferguson in London, Carla Hay in New York and Steve McClure in Tokyo.)

I bought the "inspired by" album despite the fact that I'll also buy the score album, and a few of the songs are more than decent. Dashboard Confessional's "Vindicated" is one of the clunkers, however.

I hope it sells a ton and brings in Elfman big royalty $$ for his two tracks.

Thinking of buying it as well. So, as a whole, is it pretty good? I normally would see the film, but since it's mostly an inspired by CD...

My favorite rule of their forum:

Also, this is interesting. Wasn't BELOW released by Varese Sarabande?

I'm not sure which is more morally dubious, illegally copying the music for someone, or someone actually wanting to hear it after seeing the film.

I found GamingForce through a Google search looking for info on the SPIDER-MAN 2 trailer. Lo and behold I stumble on the den of villainy.

As for BELOW, helping someone to find it would be pointing them in the direction of one of the many online retailers who stock the product. I know of one particular soundtrack label that does not take this sort of thing lightly, and they ARE watching. I suggest people clean up their act, if you know what I mean.

Well, I do point them in the right direction. Sometimes though, even that doesn't help. Either because the disc can't be purchased or the other person has no intention of buying it.

In any case, I watch who I share with and don't do as much uploading now either. Just not worth it with all the people hounding one for free music these days! Basically, I am in the middle ground on this topic. I like sharing, but also want to support the labels and artists. Really, I am conflicted on this whole thing...

Guess, I'll leave it at that!

    Okay,

Not that I condone this gamingforce file sharing thing, but I just find all these so called "police officers" out there to be a bunch of hypocrites.

I know for a FACT that most of the guys who are out there bitching and moaning about bootlegs, etc. are guilty of contributing to it in one form or another.

So my attitude it "live and let live," just don't come throwing stones when you're a guilty party.

Bootlegs and commercially released albums are two completely different things. At the GamingForce forum you have people requesting albums they can get for $14.99 or less at ****ing Best Buy! HARRY POTTER 3, TROY, even KILL BILL Vol. 1! That's just lazy, and cheap. Anyone who sucks off FTP servers like this deserve to have their PS2s smashed.

Someone else may have posted this elsewhere, and if so, I missed it.

Was it only me, or did the score during the first fusion sequence (at least the build-up science music) sound like it came straight out of Christopher Young's Hellraiser? That's all I could think of when I was watching that part of the movie. Any thoughts?
