For those of you who love Trevor Jones' film scores and were sad to see he wasn't covering I, Robot should look to Disney's June 15th release of the soundtrack for
Around The World In 80 Days. Disney has no tracklisting, bbut I'm sure someone will have it up here shortly.

Oh great...friggin songs on a period piece. And what's worse, "It's a Small World" is one of them. That song has got to be one of the most grating pieces. It sticks in your head for days on end.

Why couldn't Disney just try and take the high road for once and NOT pander by throwing stupid songs in the film?

    <sigh>

They're also selling this as a "JACKIE CHAN!!!" vehicle, so what are you going to do?

At least the score should be good.

Superb soundclips! This sounds like a wonderful score, which is good, because my expectations are always high for Trevor Jones. Ah, but if only he were also scoring I, Robot...

Sounds good, parts of the Overture reminded me a bit of Alan Silvestri's "Mummy Returns." Also, it seems like it's been ages since somebody composed an original classical ballroom waltz for a score, so I was happy to hear that. Sounds like a very good score, probably will end up being one of the very best of the year. Hopefully Trevor Jones will get more score offerings after this. I have a feeling that many will be impressed.

    Sounds pretty good.

    But:

    quote:
    15. 'Exactly Like My Dream' - London Symphony Orchestra
    Listen: MP3 Audio

LOL, all the other cues that are songs list the singer. How would they like it if their band was listed? Why can't they just credit Trevor Jones...

Fun score, but the opening of "Prince Hapi Escape" is a thinly veiled redux of Elfman's "Captured" cue from THE HULK.

    YIKES!!

As is "The Balloon Chase" a thinly veiled redux of Williams's HOOK and "Lost in America" a thinly veiled redux of Williams's FAR AND AWAY...
Poor Trevor Jones and the Curse of the Temp Track...

The score's still fun, though...quite varied and a very pleasant listen. The chorus in "Exactly Like My Dream" is going to make some people wet...weird how it reminds me of ATLANTIS, though... haha...

Haha, I hear Fenton's Anna and the King also in "Return of the Jade Budda".
But I don't blame Jones I blame Disney.

    Maybe it should be retitleed:

Around The World In 80 Days: Music From and Inspired By Temp tracks

I wonder if Jones will pay a wee homage to the classic, Oscar winning Victor Young score which is loaded with themes for each country as well as sporting the famous title theme and song?

This doesn't really sound like Jones. It's fun but I'd have prefered a more Jonesie score. But that's just from the clips.

No you're right. It way different from a normal Jones score. I wished for a little more Jonesiness also. But its there in certain places.
Agian I think Jones was forced to work with so many temp tracks, he had to move away from his familiar style almost entirly.

I guess its better than getting booted off by Marco Beltrami

Sigh -- track 10 does the unthinkable... Yes, that's the "He's A Pirate!" action theme from PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN... And "Lost In America" is Randy Newman's MAVERICK in disguise.

Trevor Jones is always a good sign. But Jackie Chan as sidekick to some obscure brit actor, that's pretty feeble.
