    .... Jeff Danna. Interesting choice.
    Hope it's orchestral.

Wow, very intriguing indeed! Not quite as eyebrow-raising as Terence Blanchard and RZA co-scoring Blade 3, but it's just as unexpected. I can't wait to hear it.

I had an e-mail correspondence with Jeff Danna about this score. Some information:
    1.)Score is 50% electronic /50% orchestral
2.)Score will be recorded in July in London
    3.)Nicolas Dodd orchestrates and conducts.

Please don't send him e-mails at the moment because he is in the hot phase of composing and doesn't have the time to answer each e-mail.
The score sounds promising. Not like the first electronic garbage score of Manson and Beltrami.

I thought Beltrami's contribution to Resident Evil was very appropriate. It was far from outstanding, but the nature of the film didn't seem to call for it. The only moment where he's able to show his stuff at all is at the climax--where Michelle Rodriguez's character dies, and he makes the moment musically both tragic and eerie.

Manson didn't belong on the project, but Beltrami's underscore was pretty much dead-on.

Yeah, I thought Beltrami did pretty well on Resi, having to fit in with Manson's stuff & Paul Andersons musical ideals. I know the bit you're thinking of on the train at the end, & I agree it was really well handled.

I don't think I really know any Jeff Danna, so I'm kinda ambivilant about this at the moment. Hopefully it might be chance for him to shine.

I think that Jeff Danna is quite an interesting choice considering a lot of what he has done before: Uncorked, Reversal & Baby. All these are quite low-key, intimate scores with a lot of soloists playing quite "ethnic" instruments.

But recent scores such as "O" and The Gospel of John, to me, suggests that he'll be able to deal with the dramatic aspects of a movie like this. It'll be interesting to see how "his sound" fits with the genre.

The score to The Gospel of John showed that he can "shine" when given the opportunity. Hopefully this opportunity will allow him to build on the momentum he has at present. He's certainly looking forward to the challenge.
