Man, been a long, long since I started this thread.

Came back from Borders today with:

Groundhog Day - George Fenton and some songs.
I look foward to poping this in tomorrow. IT was only 9.99. How could I pass that up?

Nuno, couldn't help but notice you just got FFIX. You should really check out FFXI -- it's fantastic... one of Uematsu & Co's better, even though it's hard to go wrong with any of them.

    Not bad of late:

    Frances (Barry)
    Kikujiro (Hisaishi)
House of Sand and Fog (Horner)
    Anna and the King (Fenton)
    Crucible (Fenton)
    Count of Monte Cristo (Shearmur)
First Knight (Goldsmith) - complete score
    Excalibur (Jones/Orff/Wagner)
    Germinal (Jean Claude Forgothissurname)

And on the non-film score front:

Spartacus (Khatchaturian) - Just fantastic. It turns out what I thought was Carter Burwell's best writing (in the Hudsucker Proxy) was an excerpt from this!

Very cool, man. Yeah, Uematsu is great. Crono/Kyp (Brian) and Justin Taylor are also both pretty fans of the FF soundtracks. You can always count on us to make a good discussion out of 'em.

Last couple of weeks I've gotten:

Jerry Goldsmith at 20th Century Fox
    Robocop (Varese Reissue)

Found used for a very cheap price:

Darkman - Danny Elfman (Don't know why I never got this when it was originally released)

Psycho - Elfman's Adaption for the 1998 remake

Call Of Duty(Official Sampler) - Michael Giacchino

and finally I found a copy of:

Medal Of Honor - Michael Giacchino (So now my MOH collection is complete as far as official releases go)

Dragonslayer - Alex North (Also found a copy of the original release so I can toss my CDR)

Actually I'm more of a really crazy fanboy reguarding the "FF" series.

You should also check out the orchestral album for "Final Fantasy 8" and the "Chrono Cross" soundtrack is bad ass too.

    • JUDGE DREDD (Silvestri) - the official European release, since you're bound to ask.
    • LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN (Jones). Quite like it, but I tend to skip the cod African tribal bits.

    ... and that's it.

Yes Brian i will take your advice regarding the Chrono Cross score, and i forgot to say in my early post that i also have the Music Inspired By Final Fantasy cd,which is a good cd,but some tracks sound a little wierd, like Cosmo Canyon, which sounds a little strange with the orchestra playing it..

Italian double-header "nunsploitation" scores by Piero Piccioni: LE MONACHE DI SANT'ARCANGELO and STORIADI UNA MONACA DI CLAUSURA. First score previously released on LP; CD includes 6 unreleased tracks (but minus one deleted by Piccioni); second score similar style, never released before. Recommended !!

    Ryan,

Do you have the rejected score for "Cheaper by the Dozen" by Danny Elfman? It contains, apparently, the same theme he used for the wedding music he wrote for Bridget Fonda. If you don't, we should swap. I'm still interested in the Trevor Rabin "Kangaroo Jack" sessions discs...though the Cabin Fever rejected score by Tangerine Dream sounds pretty good as well.

    Dylan

PS- Obtained "The Tower" and "The Core" this week.

Dylan -- apparently Elfman went down the aisle to "Spectre of The Goblin" from SPIDER-MAN, dressed in silk robe, where he proceeded to smash a whiskey glass at the alter after saying "I do".

Franz -- wait until next month. Some certain classics are on their way.
