Just wondered if those who had bought this set were pleased with it - and if the "Alien" selection features any unknown stuff. Are the "Damnation Alley" tracks worth the wait - surely the best thing in the film!Happy listening!

Don't know if you're new here, Harpo, but welcome nonetheless. You may want to do a search on this message board on the box set you speak of.The amount of conjecture that went back and forth over it, as well as the opinion, was staggering to say the least. The best I can tell you- for those who have 90% of what's on the box set- which is available through special edition Varese and FSM discs, it's a crying shame as many like you have waited forever for Damnation Alley to be available.
For people like me who didn't have 80% of what was on there (70% were movies I've never seen before- which is cool, because thanks to this box set, I'm curious to see them all now)- titles like Von Ryan's Express, S*P*Y*S, and Justine, it's a treat to expand the scope of musical appreciation of one of my favorite composers.
I don't plan on owning individual discs such as Chain Reaction, The Edge, or Justine, so for me- this box set covers so much and is so much more enjoyable and cost effective for the precee it is.
In the case of Alien, though, I honestly think this was an obligatory addition to the disc; there really should be a legitimate release by Varese on it. A main title cue and suite of music, most of which you can hear on the 20th Anniversary DVD (25th is in that blasted Quadrilogy) and it's isolated music score track, is not enough. That will forever be my only complaint about this disc. A good friend of mine from this baord hooked me up with the complete score a long time back and having heard that, it's hard to swallow that a legitimate release couldn't be possible- but if it does someday come, it will never compete with the completeness of the disc that friend sent to me.

My Goldsmith at 20th Century Boxed set has arrived. Whats incredible is
that it has arrived in exactly 7 days. Woo hoo. Its in super mint
condition. Best thing is that I had to pay a very small amount of
fee(Rs. 74/-) which is around $1.25 only!! Thank God and I was worrying
that it would be ten times as more. But alas I was spared.
Mine shipped on 23rd and arrived in 7 days in Karachi-PAKISTAN.Great service from Varese. Mr. John Vargas-Iam amazed. Thankyou.
(It also helped that my order was No. 11 to be processed. I guess I was
one of the early birds to make the order back then.)As for those overseas guys who are awaiting there order. Have no worry
about any exorbitant amount to be paid on delivery. You probbaly will
have to pay a small trifle or probably not at all.In my case I just paid
a sales tax duty fee which is quite nothing. Now, Iam just going to drool over the package and then begin the
opening ceremony.Ta da.

I recieved my (as an anniversay gift from my wife, gotta love her) but haven't heard it yet. But since I have only about 40% of the music on CD I'm sure it will be a treasure. The packaging is very handsome.[Message edited by HAL 2000 on 03-31-2004]
