From MS press release, in my mailbox:

"Microsoft Game Studios announced today that composer Danny Elfman has composed the theme for the upcoming Xbox roleplaying adventure Fable. He worked with a hand-picked orchestra and recording team to produce a magical theme in full 5.1 Surround Sound."

    Best regards,

    Joe

According to music4games.net, in an interview with Nile Rodgers, founder/owner of Sumthing Else Music Works, there is a soundtrack for FABLE scheduled for early this year. The composer is Russell Shaw and the main theme is composed by Danny Elfman.

I don't play video games very much, but I enjoyed this one, and a good deal of it owes to the music.

If this says anything, when I first played the game, I was almost convinced that Elfman had written more music for the game than just the main theme, which is a fantasy extension of his Spiderman theme.

I will gladly purchase this album, and if sequenced right, I think it will make a fine stand-alone listen. I hope someone will point out on the message board when this is released.

Is that the same Nile Rodgers who wrote the fantastic score for COMING TO AMERICA?

    Great news about FABLE, thanks!

I still need to play this game simply for the music alone? How does it sound? Can it be compared to another game score or another Elfman score?

So far I haven't found any clips of Shaw's score, but this site has a snippet of Elfman's theme:
