1500 copies. How many folks here have bought one (or two)? If you buy, post here. Let's countdown. I ordered mine about 30 minutes ago in a fit of insanity. The customs guys are going to ding me good.Ryan

I got up at 2:45am this morning to let the dogs out. While I waited for them to finish their potty break I couldn't resist the urge to look at Varese's site, so I ordered mine at about 2:55 am Central Time.I also ordered Robocop.

I ordered mine when I got into work this morning. The naysayers can have their say otherwise, I'm not complaining about $23 a disc when it's at least 5 to 6 more when ordering a single 24.98 club release like Predator. Especially when I don't have 33-34 our of the 39 films represented.Plus, It's Goldsmith. Most people may not understand- but that hardly matters.

I didn't order mine. That $130 will go toward some nice Herrmann, Waxman, and maybe even other Goldsmith albums. I'm still itching to buy the Adventures of Robin Hood DVD-A.

Happy reviewing SIX CDs Ryan. I wonder how many reviewers take up the daunting task of reviewing this baby. Hey, hasn't Clemmensen already got a review up?

Got my order in around 5:50 this morning before getting the kids up for school. It's a hefty price, but, as I said on the FSM board, this is MY kind of corporate charity. I consider it my tribute to a composer whose work I have loved for 40 years and, more importantly, a company that was the first to keep the torches burning for all us film music freaks, punks, and fanboys. (And fangirls, Joan). If the thought of having the unreleased stuff in clean stereo versions doesn't get you to order, well, everyone has their priorities. I'll only be too glad to reinvest in any more complete versions of this material later. For now, THANK YOU VARESE!--you make my world a little more livable.

Sure, this is an expensive item...now, but 2 or 3 weeks down the road, when you go "maybe I should have this," and it is gone...real gone, start thinking two hundred dollars and up! This will probably be the most in demand, and rare Goldsmith CD's ever. I ordered it 30 seconds after reading the press release at 5 PM Pacific time. I have loved Jerry's music since I first watched THE MAN FROM UNCLE back in the 60's.I just don't understand how any real fan would want to be without this. After this is out and it fills in so many of the remaining holes in this man's resume, I believe that SHAMUS will become the Holy Grail for Goldsmith collectors.

I don't think some people will want it. Because almost of the music on the set has been released.. I mean why get this with 10 minutes of this score, 15 minutes of that score, 6 minutes of this one.. when you can go buy the full length cds for each score. I can see it being a good release if it were just for the unreleased cues. But for us to pay over $100 for alot of the music we already have is ridiculus. I feel sorry for the people who already own the soundtracks for each score that was releasd that's on this cd and they are just wanting the unreleasd music. Basically, people are going to have to pay over $130 for about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour of unreleased music.
I'd rather use that money to send Ford to anger managment.Jeff

Don't feel sorry for me, babe. There are Goldsmith fans who will gladly pay full price for a CD just for one extra track of previously unreleased music, so I'll happily pay $130 plus shipping for 70...

Had FSM released the exact same set, at the same price, people whose primary concern is the final price of the set (or the price of the extra cues they don't have) wouldn't care whether it's Varèse Sarabande, FSM, or PooPooScore.
The other complaints about Varèse Sarabande's hype would probably have disappeared as FSM probably wouldn't have hyped it up as much.

I wish Varese would be less bombastic about things like this. True, it's a montser production from them but the audience for this is already built-in. All they had to do was announce it in a whisper and everyone who would have been interested in this would have created the hype for Varese.
And I have to say, as a collector of Goldsmith music for nearly 30 years, that there's whole boat-load of stuff on this set that I don't have. Which just goes to show that just because some of it was available at one time does not mean that everyone automatically has it.
What better thing could they have done in tribute to a great composer's 75th? It's a fitting commemorative.
Yes, I will be getting it. And yes, I will tell my wife I'm ordering it. The last thing I need is for her to discover a covert order like this on our VISA statement. Like they say, "if momma ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy".

With the load of bucks Varese invested in producing this set, it only makes sense to market the hell out of it. I think they did this masterfully, announcing first that there would be a stupendous announcement to come, thus generating a boatload of speculation and excitement. That's marketing, and (believe it or not) Varese Sarabande Records, Inc., is a business -- one that ceases to be a business if it doesn't move the product.Put me down as one who ordered it, after a nanosecond or two of uncertainty. I am not a bit offended by Varese's marketing strategy. The more successful they are, the more great film music they can make available to us. Go VS -- I await your next overhyped announcement!

Glad to see you finally took that course in economics (or read a book the subject) so you can see how speculation is positive for every fanboy and for the mass distribution of quantity-limited products, thus benefitting every one of the 'minor' labels which devote time and resources to make fanboys happy.

I really, really want to buy this but I can't justify spending $200 CAN on 3CD's and a 64 page booklet. Yes, I know, there are 6CD's, but I own everything that is featured on discs 1-3. Maybe if I get a tax refund I might consider it... but right now at this very moment I have to unfortunately pass on what I'm sure is a fantastic box set.-Erik-

This is the way I look at it. I have most of what's on the the first 3 CDs. That means I'd be paying (with shipping) just under $50.00 for each of the 3 other CDs. So I have to ask myself if those 3 CDs contain scores that I would be willing to pay that much for. The answer for me is no.
(With the exception of "Fate Is the Hunter" and "Alien", I haven't seen any of the films.) So that's one box set someone else can buy who really wants it.
