    Dude. Seriously.

Home stretch (Sport.), that part of a race course between the last curve and the winning post.

But I'm happy to put your thread back to the head of the column.

And for that I'm appreciative, even though it isn't really my thread. You could say I've adopted it for a season.

However... Dude, seriously, you may have missed a hint of irony/propaganda/bombast in my remarks if you understood me to mean that we were really on the home stretch. Not only are we on the home stretch, we're paces from the finishing line.

    Philipp, Delerue's SWTWC is already 96 - I voted for it ;-)

I learned this about a month ago - if you have Windows (This computer has Windows98), all you have to do is hold down Ctrl and then press F. A window will pop up and all you have to do it type the word you are looking for and it comes up.
    Cool. :-)

Don't forget, fogeys, these are meant to be your really really top-notch 5-star scores. No cheapening of this thread will be allowed by putting up things that are merely "pretty good" or "sadly underrated".

At the risk of putting up some pretty good sadly underrated stuff that's just brushing a 5, if not a wholesome 5, I'd mention the following. They're so close to perfection that I think you can forgive me. I've forgiven myself anyway.

    ONE-EYED JACKS (Hugo Friedhofer, 1960)

THE WIND AND THE LION (Jerry Goldsmith, 1976)

MURDER IN THE FIRST (Christopher Young, 2004)

Don't lower your standards as much as I have!

Prisoner of Zenda is #102, and Altered States is #186. So accounting for that and for the confusion I'm feeling from your numbering, I believe we would proceed like this:

    367. DEAD RINGER - Andre Previn
    368. FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD - Richard Rodney Bennett
    369. COOL HAND LUKE - Lalo Schifrin
    370. THE OUTER LIMITS - Dominic Frontiere

Unless I really misunderstood what you were trying to do with the numbering.

Of the hundreds of thousands of feature films since the beginning of talkies, which Limbacher tried to list as many of them as possible, it would be interesting to know how many had original scores. And of all those how many would we consider really good musically? Maybe only a few thousand?

Sorry to interrupt without posting my own favorites, but this list displays what appears to be a ranking of the greatest scores of all time, when it's just a random assortment of scores. For example, the only reason The Empire Strikes Back is #1 is because that was a part of the first post on this thread. The later a score is posted, the lower a ranking it receives. That doesn't seem fair.

IMO, the list should be re-arranged in alphabetical order.
