I saw this over at http://www.musicfromthemovies.com/article.asp?ID=221:

"Don Davis and his orchestrator Erik Lundborg are currently working on a concert suite based on the three critically acclaimed scores for the Matrix films. The suite will be approximately twenty minutes and in three movements using material from each and one of the films: The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. The suite is being re-orchestrated for a standard orchestra, which means that the brass section will be different from the original scores, the percussion will be reduced a bit, and there will only be one piano.

The first movement of the suite, featuring music from the first film, will be performed in concert by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in Sweden in three film music concerts from 18th-20th March 2004. More information about this event when the complete programme is ready."

Since we do not know the contents of the suite at this time, what would fans of the scores wish for Davis to include? I would certainly hope he would include his original, orchestral-only version of Reloaded's "Burly Brawl". It seems the concert suite will not be constructed to include choir so I guess that means "Neodammerung" will not be included, but certainly it needs "Anything in Possible".

I personally love the "Chateau Swashbuckling" cue that was pushed out in favor of Rob Dougan's "Chateau."

Now come on, I'm a huge Zimmer fan, but the matrix scores are far better than anything Zimmer and the MV crew have written in recent years.

Unfortunately, nothing of the 'Burly Brawl' piece is included in the suite. It's far too complicated, or in Don Davis' own words "problematic" , for a live performance. And no, "Nedämmerung" is not included. However, this piece is being arranged separately for the Los Angeles Master Chorale for a future concert that features film music!

    Hey now. Don't go there.

Mean while, I don't know if I'll enjoy the simplification of the score material. It's necessary, for sure, to suit the concert hall, but it was the mass and density of the ingredients that made the Matrix trilogy score what it is. But I guess we'll see. I'm certainly interested.

I pity the fool orchestra that has to perform Davis' Burly Brawl!!!

Seriously, I would have to think it took a LOT of takes to get the performances right on that cue, even for the L.A. players that are used to sight-reading that kind of material. Sometimes concert orchestras only get one or two rehearsals of this stuff so you can imagine the train wreck possible in a live performance. I'll be interested in seeing what Davis' Matrix suite will be. And God fear the zimmerites!!
