I've noticed lately the reworked song "Mad World" by Gary Jules and Michael Andrews from Donnie Darko is #1 on the British Pop charts.... The weird thing is in all the news stories I've seen, the film or the soundtrack is not mentioned by name. Michael Andrews, composer for Donnie Darko, Gary Jules the vocalist. I like the version of the song a lot, but am weirded out by how it's a cult favorite in the US, but a pop phenomenon in the UK. What gives, peeps?

I'm still a-scratching too. It just seemed to appear out of nowhere - and then people complained that it wasn't a cheery Christmas No. 1!

Unless I'm very much mistaken, it also made an appearance on the soundtrack of a TV show (or did he sing it on live TV?). Anyhoo, that might explain it. Oh, and Tears For Fears are reforming...

Mad World indeed. If you don't believe it, read it here and weep.

I doubt anyone could explain the intricacies of the British singles chart.
