Music from the Movies is reporting that Graeme Revell is signed to score the new Halle Berry "Catwoman" movie with electronica composer William Orbit.

Is it just me or could they have found a more non-descript composer for this project? I remember when Revell was an interesting composer. Nowadays he just seems like musical wallpaper. His "Daredevil" score didn't do much for me.

Adding William Orbit will just insure a techno side to the proceedings.

Why is it that they keep going to Elfman & Revell for these superhero scores?

This was a case where Shirley Walker could have really done a great job.

Oh well...I'm sure it'll be full of songs anyway.

    James

I'm with you, but William Orbit might add a night touch if he doesn't go heavy on the electronica.

Justin, isn't that like asking the Irish not to celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Why else would you hire William Orbit?

And what's a "night touch"? Sounds creepy...

I remember many years ago seing this almost 4 minute X-Files commercial. IT would be shown late at night, like 3:00 a.m.
It would be various clips set to music. I spent nearly 6 years trying to find out what the music was. Then one day a member at this board I believe it was, solved it.
It was: "Water From A Vien Leaf" by William Orbit.
Sure it had electronica, but it was tastefully done. I am sure if Orbit eases up on it and uses some real instruments, via Revell's help, he can provide an intersting experience.

Same with Robert Dougan and Enya.
I believe they could both score a movie themselves. Only if they can resist the pressure of the studios andnot make it full of songs and have help from a real TV and Film composer.
and robdougan.com , last time I went, was a masterpiece.

Can't say that Im too excited about this at all, I do like some of orbits material, but on a catwoman film? It seems this is destined to be a flop anyway. I do agree with Justin though, Rob D and / or Enya could easliy score a film. Only problem is, Rob D would most likely become the next James Horner as he always seems to use the same ascending motif in most of his work.

Revell better have a good female/sexy/sensual/stimulating/captivating/mesmerizing/echanting/americana/superhero theme for this Bitch!
    OR ELSE......!!!!! *grmbl*

I loved Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman.
The scene in which she first meets with Shremp? and Batman outside and says "miauw...." just trickles all the nerves over my body. SUPERB!
    Catharsis is Bliss!
