Now we can start speculating on who will be the composer....

That would be optimistic...most likely, we'll enter debates on who *should* be the composer.

David Williams would be a nice choice.

I was thinking about a 3 dozen man MV score written in less than an hour.

I have a feeling that James Newton Howard may end up doing this movie since his last film score with Mel Gibson was such a big hit..with SIGNS i.e. Otherwise The ideal job for this project would be Michael Danna who specializes in ethnic music and his style of scoring for this movie is right up his alley..

Iam just speculating here.. so what do u guys think?

I still think Alfred Newman should score it.

    Oh wait...

My vote goes to J. Peter Robinson. Him, or Harry Manfredini.

I always thought Mychael Danna would be a good choice to score it too. And if he did end up scoring it, it would also be pretty interesting to compare Mychael's score to the one his brother wrote for that other Jesus movie.

I think that this film it's not going to have a score,i think it's going to be like those 2 hours of film in Castway, which didn't have any score either, besides if it's not James Horner scoring it,for me it's crap, since i'm not a big fan of religious stuff....

I can understand the reference to James Newton Howard more because of the transcendental 'Hands of Fate II' but I can't see it happening at all.

Gibson talks about authenticity and so I agree the ethnic texture has to be there. Mychael Danna is a contender but is he a big enough name to be placed on this $25 million project?

One PR person described the film as deepy moving, beautiful, and tragic. I'm imagining big string sections here.

    Gabriel Yared perhaps?

    Cheers

Hasn't someone thought about the fact that Horner might score this film anyway? That he hasn't been hired yet doesn't mean he won't be. So, I'm guessing Horner.

Their best bet is to edit in Rosza's King of Kings. There is no substitute.

Cyril Morin of Samsara could do some fascinating things with this material. And he really gets his hands dirty with ethnic instrumentation.
