Doesn't Clint Eastwood often compose parts of scores? Bridges of Madison County I think was an Eastwood (co-?)composition.

Yeah, and he also did some stuff for Unforgiven (though, I think Metallica shoulda done that one) and Absolute Power.

Is Lennie Niehaus involved in Mystic River?

Yes, it's all Clint. I wouldn't be surprised if Lennie Niehaus worked on the score in some way, as conductor or orchestrator or something. Clint wrote themes for most of the movies over the last ten years or so but this is his first score!

The lush, haunting theme is heard in the trailer, if I rememeber correctly. I'm really looking forward to picking this one up.

    Cheers,

    Steve

The man himself is appearing at the National Film Theatre here in London tonight - after a screening of this film. It's sold out - but worth trying for returns..

Did anyone see that Film Music Documentary on Bravo?

I forget the name at the moment, but in it, Eastwood basically trashed Jerry Fielding, saying in effect, he hired Lennie Niehaus because he was basically writing all Fieldings stuff anyway.

I really took exception to that comment. Niehaus has never reached the type of writing or talent Fielding had.

And as for Eastwood, it's nice to know he can plunk out a tune and have Niehaus make it work as a score.

I'm only giving Eastwood a bit of a trashing as Streisand gets it for doing all the same things he has done in film, while he remains unscathed. (i.e. directing, starring, writing, producing AND scoring)

By the way, it IS nice to see a SCORE in one of his films getting the attention for a change. The pathetic showing of underscore on "Bridges of Madison County," which had 2 CDS!, was really unforgivable. (pun intended)

    James

You also heard the theatrical trailer with Craig Armstrong's music in it right?

Are you sure that was Craig Armstrongs music? It sounded a lot like Craig Armstrong, but it's not from any movies or his CD or anything (at least i don't thinks so)

IT's from his As If To Nothing CD. Great track to listen to when you're sitting in traffic. Bubbling intensity.
