    Uno, dos, tres!

Those three have my total attention

The music for Taken was pretty good though.

I am really surprised and pleased to see Taken by Laura Karpman get a release.

While some of the music was a used more than once, the idea of scoring a twenty hour mini-series with only one composer boggles the mind. There was a tremendous amounto of music written for this series. That she was able to bring out some nice musical moments is even more astounding. I am sure that we will get just a sample of what was written. A nice forty minute CD should get us just the cream of the crop.

Hopefully, this will get her a lot more work. She really did a good job. When it’s listed on Amazon there should be samples posted and you should really check it out if you didn’t see the series.

    First class!

I could also easily see myself picking up Gothika, Loony Tunes Back in Action and Alias.

I hate to be the negative one here, but if the Alias CD is anything liek the 30min promo, I will definately pass.

I'd rather have more X-Files, a first MillenniuM CD, more Star Trek tv scores and such.

I look foward to Looney Tunes with bated breath.

Justin, since when do you hate to be the negative one here???

I think Giacchino's "Alias" music is well married to the show and look forward to hearing it on CD. (Not everyone was privy to hearing a 30 min. promo disc to form an opinion, but I am sure his stuff sounds great compaired to the droning bore that scores the other shows you mentioned.)

And as for the Goldsmith, after the dreary stuff he's produced of late, a Joe Dante comedy score is NOT on my high list of must haves.

I'm more interested in Yared's "Sylvia" and Chris Young's "The Runaway Jury." Those 2 composers have done some excellent work and continue to impress me.

P.S. Love John Ottman's work, but would like to see him branch out from the horror genre more.

Are we sure the Varese ALIAS album is anything like the promo? I am hoping it is more like their old SeaQueast album, where there were suites from several episodes included.

Guys... I have a 75 minute Alias CD featuring music from only the first half of season one and let me tell you that it is a fantastic listen. You guys are NOT going to be disappointed by the Varese album. A 30 minute or even 75 minute album doesn't do this fantastic music justice. There is going to be so much good stuff left off this first album. Here's hoping for a Vol 2 in the near future.

Hey, if you don't like the Alias promo, send 'er on over! I've been writing Giacchino saying we need a release for a long time, because sadly, I'm not one of those in the exclusive loop of promo swapping....!

Erik, I'm confused. You say we won't be disappointed w/ the Varese album. But based on what you're saying, we will be, because no matter what's on it, it won't do the music (as a whole) justice. If a disc doesn't do the show justice, and there's no indication of future volumes, yeah, that's something to be disappointed about.

However, on that note, it'll be great to have Giacchino's music on a commercial label like Varese. Congratulations to him, and here's to more releases in the future.

It's my understanding that the ALIAS disc will have music from seasons 1 and 2. However this is not set in stone, and subject to change.

God bless Varese. This looks like a damn fine slate.

I hope Debney gets ELF perfect. Maybe his score will evoke Rankin/Bass (via Maury Laws) like the film does?

That'd be cool, Ryan. I'm really interested in hearing Debney do Christmas, and a Rankin/Bass touch would be a hoot.

I should have said not be disappointed by the MUSIC on the album. What IS disappointing is that they can't put all of the music composed by Giacchino on the album. I'm sorry for the confusing all of you. I should have given the post a once over before hitting the submit button.

    Anyway, enjoy the music guys.

Lancelot, all you had do was but ask. Too late. Nah nah. :-)

    Anyway,
a compilation of score from the first season of Alias might be a better presentation that the promo. So maybe the promo and the two episodes I saw were no indication and there is actually good music in some episodes. I could be wrong.

Nothing ever caught my ear from Taken. Is the dsic any different from the recent promo cd?
But I could be totally wrong about Taken. There was 20 hours of film, there's a lot of score to go through to make a CD. Maybe it's nothing but the best tracks.

Well, I would hope that a record producer would decide to put the best tracks on the album instead of, say, bad or mediocre tracks.

As long as Jerry Goldsmith isn't producing the Taken album, you should be all set.

Speaking of Goldsmith and Varese, I read at Cinescape that they have a Deluxe Edtion of iPoltergeist II coming out that is supposed to have all the music from the expanded Intrada release, plus an extra track. Does anyone know anything else about this?

Where have you been lately? MARS?
(Just kidding...) Yes its true- Varese is releasing the expanded cd at 60 minutes this month on 14th Oct. This one contains around 7 minutes more music than any previous cd release. For more info go to the Varese website and see the cd scans and track lists. Plus you can also check out the Filmscoremonthly.com message board as there was a heavy discussion there.
