So, other than seeing that Haslinger was previously a member of Tangerine Dream, what are the prospects on his score for Underworld? I have absolutely no clue of what to expect. Does he write like Christopher Franke? Better? Worse? Orchestral? Electronic?Anyone else clueless and curious about this composer?

I don't know what the Underworld score sounds like. Paul has done some important synth programming on Graeme Revell's scores, including the pretty good Pitch Black. Maybe this gives us a clue about what Underworld will sound like?

The Underworld score was very electronic and industrial. Now that you mention it there were some similarities to the Pitch Black score programming wise. Interestingly on the sound track there are 4 short tracks of score that are by Renholder which is Danny Lohner. These fit in well with the rest of the score as they are very electronic/industrial sounding.

Underworld doesn't have a score....it has musical wallpaper. It is all about ambiance. There is nothing melodic about it whatsoever and discovering he was a member of Tangerine Dream, I am not shocked. The film kicked major butt!! Lotsa fun. The music was completely and utterly forgettable...which is sad.Joe

Usually I'd dismiss this composer entirely, but Haslinger's score to Blue Crush caught my attention somewhat. Although ambient, the finale surfing cue to that film is a lovely, dream-like piece.posted 09-22-2003 08:00 PM PT (US)

I'd just like to point out to everyone, in case you failed to notice, that Alex not only sat down to watch Blue Crush, he somehow managed to get to the end! It's times like these when I really wish Christine would finish the job already....
I'll leave it at that,
