I was wondering if anyone who has the Gods and Generals CD and has seen the film can help me with some information. I've seen the film and enjoyed it. I was thinking about buying the CD, but I want to make sure there are a few pieces of music on there before I do as they are my favorites. Is the music from the film from these parts on the CD:
1. First Bull Run (Manasas) where the Stonewall Brigade rises up and begins to fire on the Federals.
2. The part where the Irish are running towards the stone wall at Fredericksburg and being cut down. I have heard the tracks These Brave Irishmen, and To The Stone Wall
and the music I'm looking for is not on those.3. Chancellorsville. The music that plays as Jackson's men sneak up on the Federals. I really like this one as it starts off slow and soft and eventually builds up to a loud climax with chanting.
I appreciate the help. I really don't want to buy the CD if my favorite music from the film is not on it. I hate it when soundtracks leave the best stuff off. I know a lot of people have expressed distaste for Edelman's Gettysburg score, but I really enjoyed that one and was glad when they released the more complete 2 CD version. It still wasn't complete, but it was a lot closer than the single CD version.
Thanks.Mythos

Hey Mythos, I too enjoyed Gods and Generals. I cannot remeber if the First Manasas piece is on the disc; and I don't believe the Irish brigade music is in their either (unless it appears on another part of the film, hence appearing on a different track). As for the chanting piece, it is on the disc, but only a small portion of it. Hope this kinda helps!Kyle

Thanks Ace. The news is a little disappointing. I hate it when they leave what you like best off of soundtracks. I scanned over the film again to hear those pieces I was describing.I may pick up the CD anyway since there are a few pieces I liked that I know are on there. I hope they do a 2 CD set eventually like they did with Gettysburg.

Mythos, regardless of the absence of those pieces, the CD is fantastic. Frizzell and Edelman both did an outstanding job, and what's there makes a really enjoyable listen.
