Is it just me, or does the opening of Fire Water Paper sound more or less the same as the opening of Elgar's Cello Concerto?

I know it's only a small, but it's such a striking gesture that I really hope Goldenthal just hadn't heard the Elgar when he wrote Fire Water Paper.

You're on to something there... Considering both are written with cellos in mind... No wonder there are similarities!

You know, Lutoslawski wrote a cello concerto, probably with a cello in mind, and Fire Water Paper doesn't seem to resemble it.

Seriously though, can anyone shed some light on this? (the FWP/Elgar Cello Concerto thing that is)
