Perhaps one of the hardest polls yet?

There are some great scores inspired by the slow-motion galloping horse, of course of course. Some of my personal favorite pieces of music include "Grace" from The Horse Whisperer, "Breaking in the Colt" from The Man from Snowy River and just about every note from Delerue's The Black Stallion Returns.

Our own Joan gave this topic a go some eight months ago here, which made for some interesting reading.

    Anyone else?

Best Horse score: Whatever William Ross is writing right now for that stallion pic.

Cues from both Horse Whisperer scores...

From Barry's rejected (some of which appear on Beyondness of Things) - Heartlands, Give Me a Smile, Beyondness of Things, Meadow of Delight and Sadness, Gifts of Nature.

From Newman's excellent replacement score (possibly one of the best replacement scores I've ever heard) - Grace, Montana, Runaway Meadow, Double Divide, There Was Snow, The Vast Continent, Percheron Stallion, and especially Rhythm of the Horse.

Special mention to Shore's TTT score - the theme that appears for 'The White Rider' when Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas etc are seen riding across the plains of Westfold, reprised when Gandalf and Eomer save the day at Helm's Deep, is a worthy tribute to our equine friends.

NP Attack of the Clowns (Williams)

    Slow motion, bah!
    The Final Conflict: The Hunt
Although the hors never appears, it is discussed in Patton: Pensive Patton.

While I love Man From Snowy River, the best main theme about a horse is from Champions by Carl Davis.

Elfman's Black Beauty is a fantastic score. Horse Whisperer was right behind it. Although I haven't heard all the scores, particularly Seabiscuit.

I must wait to hear what James Newton Howard comes up with for Hidalgo before I can answer this question.

I will add though, that Goldsmith's music for The Wild Rovers when they are breaking in the horses is awesome, the whole score is great.

No contest. Black Beauty clearly the best.
