Anyone seen the trailer for the upcoming Pixar movie The Incredibles? Looks pretty good! Wonder if that is original score for the trailer. Whatcha think?

The music used in the trailer is from John Barry's On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Actually, I heard a rumor (of course) that Barry was in fact supposed to score The Incredibles. Lets hope that this is factual!NP- Pirates of the Caribbean

Haha, I'm with John. You hardly see someone walk off a Disney project though. I think
If Barry is composing and he produces some stuff like what was in the trailer I am psyched for the release. Hmmm, I'm actually looking forward to a score release for a movie this year. Interesting

Oh Barry's notorious for taking a walk on projects. And as for looking forward to it THIS year...you didn't see the release date. November 2004! You got a long wait.James

I'd be surprised if Barry lasts the distance - he seems totally wrong for this project. Has he ever done anything remotely similar before? The Pixar films need inventive and thematic variety like Thomas Newman provided with his exceptional work on Finding Nemo.
Barry is a bit of a relic, let's face it, he's practically retired and his work over many years now has been nothing but soppy, simplistic-theme-with-minor-variations type scores. He's just not right for this film. Let's hope they eventually give the job to Newman again.

Barry writes brilliant film music. I'd love to see him to a Pixar film.--Brian

But a world without soppy simplistic theme(s) with minor variation type score would be a world without beauty, truth, liberty and love!!!!!!

I agree with Brian, instead of smashing him down for the scores you don't like how about giving him another chance with what looks like a great oppurtunity for Barry to write a fantastic super hero score.C'mon Barry!!!!

Hell, if we could get him to do another bond movie, I'd be game. If he truly does stay on this one, I'll be the first in line to buy the CD.But let's not forget the lessons of Howard The Duck.
A movie loved only by nostalgic people such as I, and a film only heightened by what Barry did for it. Okay, the Thomas Dolby songs were alright, too.Besides, it proves John Barry wasn't too put upon hiself to do something silly. Anyone know if he's done an animated project before?

Barry is a "relic?" It seems like everybody is working off of "simplistic-theme-with-minor-variations type scores," so I don't know why you single out Barry and say he's bad for doing that. It's disappointing, yes, but it's unfortunately the acceptable thing to do these days.
What type of credentials does Thomas Newman have that Barry doesn't? Did Newman do a lot of animation work in his past before Finding Nemo? No? But you gave him a chance-- Why can't Barry have a chance, too? How can you make a statement that "[Barry] seems totally wrong for this project," while we really don't have much of an idea of what this film is about?
I'm not a Thomas Newman expert in the least. The only T. Newman work I'm familiar with is Shawshank Redemption and Road to Perdition. Sorry, but I wouldn't exactly call Road to Perdition "inventive" film music when compared with Shawshank Redemption. It's a fine score, but not an inventive one by any stretch. I also watched In the Bedroom maybe six months ago and I don't remember the score being so moving that I wanted to hear it outside of the film.
<STPD MODE=OFF>
I hope Barry makes it through this one. I'm not going to shed any tears or be surprised if he's rejected, but I'm glad somebody is giving him the chance.

Don't Feed the Trolls! They come up to close the car and once you start feeding them, they always know where to come to get what they want.

Franz mad! Must kill cheeky Barry-hating trolls!

Ohhh... Again, that horrible loss of self-control. I need to stay away from this thread.
NP Swept from the Sea (Barry) - wait a second, wasn't I playing Hulk a moment ago?
