To quote a recent post by Mark Hatfield: WWWWWWWWWWoooooooooooooooooooo
hhhhhhhhhhoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ahem. (calms down)
I just wanted to let you all know that today the results of my final Medicine exams came out and I am now officially Dr. Mark Camilleri

It's been a very tough 5 year course, and the final year was particularly gruesome, especially the run-up to the finals. After months of stress and stomach problems, it all boiled down to 3 viva exams on last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We then had 2 very tense days whilst the examiners all met up and decided our fate, and this morning we got our results. Although we were slightly disappointed becuase 3 out of the 37 failed, the personal satisfaction is still sky high.
To try and bring this vaguely on topic, I just wanted to say that I signed up for the boards back in 2nd year, and my increasing interest in soundtrack collecting has been one of the many hobbies that kept me sane over the past few years. Also, in the recent months when I was locked up indoors studying away, my breaks often consisted of the daily check-in to the boards to see what all you guys were on about.
On a more materialistic note, my broke student days are over, and my pay should now allow for more soundtracks

Yours truly,
Dr. Mark Camilleri M.D.
p.s. Jeron - now I can get to work on those piano cds

Congratulations, Doc!Now all you have to worry about is being worked to death for slave wages during your internship and residency (do they have a version of the Libby Zion law in your state? I sure hope so...)

Hey, Doctor Mark, tell us more. Will you specialize in a certain medical field? Will you
practice where you live or will you move? Will you diagnose all of us crazy film score
lovers over the Internet?
Now about that minor pain in my side.....Big congratulations. May your new job bring you great personal happiness.

Thanks for all the kind comments...Joan - Not sure yet. We start our 2 years of internship on the 7th July, doing 3 month stints in different departments. Then after 2 years we're given our warrant and we can either set up shop as family doctors or stick around at hospital or abraod to specialise. I plan to do the latter, though I'll probably decide on which field during these 2 years. I have my eyes set on Paediatrics, but it's probably way too early to tell.
Thanks again... I've gotta run cos I'm off to do what JJH recommended...

Well done Camillu. I'm in my 5th year at Uni and I've just come from an exam myself so I can appreciate your pains over the last 5 years.

These arrived in the mail today:
(to celebrate my first paycheck as a doctor)Superman (Rhino 2CD) - finally! Now the most embarrasing void in my collection is filled.
Varese 25th Anniversary 4CD - great deal.
Wilde - Debbie Wiseman
The Phantom Menace & Other Hits from 1999 (Varese compiilation) - received 2 copies by mistake
Flubber - Danny Elfman
Back to Titanic - James Horner
Maverick - Soundtrack (my mistake - thought this was Newman's score, but it;s a compilation of country music. Ole.)
The Hollywood Sound (compilation of John Williams conducting Oscar-winning scores with the LSO)
Non-score:The Queen Symphony - Tolga Kashif (a 6 part symphony based on the songs of Queen - not one of those cheesy "RPO plays the songs of Queen". Great stuff performed by the Royal Philharmonic)
S&M - Metallica, Michael Kamen and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.posted 08-13-2003 07:09 AM PT (US)
