There is an expanded Cinema Paradiso by Morricone with about 20 extra minutes of music. Does anyone have this and is it worth getting if you already have the original CD?

    Thanks

It should be pointed out to Americans, who are wont to be ignorant of such things, that the title to this very Italian film is correctly pronounced CHEE-nee-mah Pah-rah-DEE-zoh.

Thanks for the linguistic editorial, but it still doesn't answer the question at hand.

I don't have the Expanded CD yet, but I am sure it is worth getting. It's one of Morricone's finer scores.

Actually perfpitch you are slightly off on the pronunciation -- Cinema is pronounced CHEE-NAY-MAH not CHEE-NEE-MAH

Oh, I almost forgot, this is coming from one "ignorant" American who happens to speak fluent Italian.

As far as I know this 'expanded' disc has only one extra track - a reprise/alternate of Andrea Morricone's love theme.

Yeah, the expanded track is more like two minutes than twenty...unless there's a boot floating around, but I'm sure no one here would condone intellectual property theft.

There's one other difference: supposedly the left and right stereo channels were reversed on the original cd release. This has now been corrected.

Your quibble is quite correct, Mark, but most Americans don't speak fluent Italian -- or fluent English, for that matter.

Note: the one Bonus Track ("Cinema Paradiso - String Version") that appeared on the previous expanded CD can be found on the new version as the last half of track 9.

Is the new version worth buying? Well, this is the "versione integrale" that reflects the longer director's cut of the movie, and it sounds great, so - yes - it's well worth getting.
