I was able to rent this yesterday and caught the 9 shorts. Explains several references that were made in Reloaded farely well.Each short had a sort of a mini-film score to it. I don't know if it was Don Davis but in some parts it sure sounded like him. Can anyone care to confirm this? And with that, the prerequisite "Is there going to be a CD release?"

Dear Spicy,you are right, the score for Animatrix is composed by Don Davis. As far as I know, the cd soundtrack is only sold in a special box set that contains this and the Animatrix dvd.

I think that this "CD soundtrack" is the same one that is available seperately - it's just a boxed gift set.And this CD soundtrack is full of songs and a couple of lesser Davis cues (?).

"Lesser Davis cues" is an understatement. The orchestra is barely audible beneath thumping techno loops and annoying dialogue echoes. If there's actual Don Davis music under there, you'd hardly know it. I enjoyed the techno/orchestral blend on the MR Disc 2, but the two tracks on the "Animatrix" CD are completely different.
