Hey Matt! I remember reading in an interview... correct me if I'm wrong, but perhaps Paul Tonk's interview with DA? -- that DA was interested in releasing a more comprehensive collection of cues from the score, but I haven't heard anything since.Just because the composer is interested, doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen, unfortunately.
I agree with you. A lot of great music was left off the soundtrack album. Hearing the Bond theme in the "Cuba" sequence was really great. I still wonder why we got an abbreviated version of that on the album, sans the Bond theme.

If you get the new dvd and watch the docs, you can hear a TON of music not on the cd. The great brassy cue as Bond drives to the ice palace, and some more action music. A lot of it is played without FX as well...not sure if it could be ripped though.David Arnold chats for a bit about his score too..
The dvd is pretty nice, the docs are quite interesting!

Being a big Bond fan, I wholeheartedly hope this happens. They omitted all of the good orchestral cues. And, while some of the electronic ones were astounding, there were some great moments left out. The music before the Hovercraft Chase was awesome (very dark), and I love the little bit used when Bond is using the wheelchair.I hope they do something with it soon! And I love the DVD too. Wish they had consistent packaging though.

Well guys...according to a thread over at FSM way back when the film came out, an expanded CD doesn't seem likely.Arnold has the whole thing mixed to stereo masters for a CD, but that "rumored" negative comment about the Madonna song that was attributed to him pretty much nixed any expanded score CD.
As I hear it told by Ford Thaxton there, Madonna's label, Maverick, holds the rights to the music on CD and therefore won't allow it to happen.
Personally I think that is bull. I think EON holds the rights to EVERYTHING Bond, including Madonna's song.
I am sure Chris Neel over at MGM could shead more light on the situation and the legal aspects of such a release happening, etc.

Since there is probably no chance for release I have meticulously recreated the "Wheelchair Access" cue along with a few others with my gigastudio software, it's dead on with the original, complete with flemenco guitar. So if you want it, e-mail me. I got some sound clips from the region 2 DVD several weeks ago which I used as a base.Rich

Well...I was actually talking to Dan Goldwasser about the score to DAD and he told me that David Arnold indicated at the 2 Fast 2 Furious (which I'm psyched about) scoring sessions, that there will NOT be an expanded release of Die Another Day.

I'll try my best to answer this.Maverick does have the soundtrack album rights, and the rights to the title song, in perpituity. MGM owns the score, but not the song. If there were to be an expanded score release, here's how it could happen:
1. Maverick could release it.
2. Another label could release it if Maverick passed, but the tracks that appear on the Maverick album would have to be licensed by this other label. This would be costly.
3. The best idea would be to make an album of the unreleased tracks. Since the unreleased tracks do not appear anywhere but the film, the tracks could be used without havin to be licensed from Maverick. (This still would would have to have Maverick pass on it, since they hold the soundtrack album rights in perp.)
