Australian auteur Peter Weir's first film in over five years, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, starring Russell Crowe, is currently being scored by a team of three composers: Christopher Gordon, Iva Davies and Richard Tognetti. The film, a naval adventure taking place against the backdrop of the Napoleonic war, is slated for premiere in December.

    How come three composers?

Because, like most of Weir's movies, he uses many music sources in his films. Like Glass/Dallwitz/Kilar for THE TRUMAN SHOW, Zamfir and Bruce Smeaton for PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK, etc. etc.

this article might explain Tognetti's involvement - basically, providing source music (from what I can gather); I would assume that Davies' involvement is similar, and Gordon is the "main composer" writing the bulk of the score.

Because there are three colors in the French flag.

All of Gaul, as Julius Caesar observed, is divided into three parts.

    And

Martian biologoy and technology in George Pal's WAR OF THE WORLDS were based on threes, and they destroyed Paris.

That's great perfpitch, but could you at least contribute to the conversation by talking about film music in some way??
